Today we’d like to introduce you to Daniel Adenugba.
Hi Daniel, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I started DJing while I was in college at Texas Tech, initially just because I loved music and wanted to create a good experience for people. I’m completely self-taught, so I learned everything through practicing, making mistakes, watching others, and constantly studying the craft. What started as a hobby quickly became something I took seriously. I began building my name, taking every opportunity I could, and learning not only how to DJ but also how to market myself, network, and create experiences.
Now at 21 years old, I’ve been blessed to DJ events across the country and overseas while still balancing being a full-time college student. I’ve had opportunities to DJ for and alongside major artists and at some incredible venues and events. More recently, I moved to Houston, where I’ve continued to grow my career, expand my network, and take bigger risks with my career.
The journey hasn’t been perfect. I’ve dealt with uncertainty, financial pressure, self-doubt, and plenty of moments where I questioned whether I was doing enough. But I kept betting on myself. Today, I’m focused on turning DJing into a full-time career, continuing to build my brand, and creating opportunities not just for myself but for the people around me. I’m still a college student, but I’ve come a long way from simply being the 21-year-old who wanted to DJ.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. One of the biggest challenges has been balancing school with trying to build a career in an industry that requires me to constantly be on the move. There have been times when I’ve had to choose between opportunities and school responsibilities, while also dealing with the uncertainty that comes with being a young DJ trying to establish himself.
I’ve also dealt with financial pressure, inconsistent opportunities, and a lot of self-doubt. There are moments where I constantly question whether I’m working hard enough, whether I’m good enough, or whether I’m moving fast enough. At the same time, I’ve had to learn how to navigate relationships, business, and the pressure that comes with putting yourself out there.
But honestly, those struggles have shaped me just as much as the wins. They’ve taught me patience, discipline, and most importantly, to keep betting on myself even when I can’t see the outcome yet.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m a professional DJ and creative who specializes in creating high-energy experiences through music, entertainment, and culture. My work goes beyond just playing songs I focus on reading the room, understanding the crowd, and creating moments that people remember.
I’ve had the opportunity to DJ across the country and overseas, including events connected to artists like Don Toliver, DaBaby, Sexyy Red, Yung Miami, and many more. I’m proud that I’ve been able to build those opportunities while still being a college student and continuing to grow my career.
What sets me apart is my ability to adapt. I can DJ a college event, a club, a private event, or a major artist event and understand what each environment needs. I’m also very intentional about building a brand around myself rather than just being a DJ. I want people to recognize my energy, creativity, and ability to create an experience not just remember the songs I played.
More than anything, I’m proud that I bet on myself. I started with an idea and a passion for music, and I’ve turned it into something that has taken me across the country and overseas. I’m still building, but I’m proud of how far I’ve come and excited about where it’s going.
Can you share something surprising about yourself?
Something that might surprise people is that I’m completely self-taught as a DJ. I never had formal training or someone teaching me how to DJ I learned through watching, practicing, making mistakes, and constantly studying the craft on my own.
At the same time, I’m still a full-time college student while building my career. A lot of people see the events, traveling, and artists I’ve worked with, but they may not realize I’ve had to balance all of that with school and figuring out the business side of my career. Everything I’ve built so far has really come from being willing to learn, take risks, and bet on myself.
