Daniel, Gloria, and Daniel Jr., can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
We started our company one year ago. I retired from being a mechanical offshore oil tool designer two years ago but have always wanted to build and stain fences for a long time. We decided to get into the business so we attended seminars, got certified by a stain company, bought top of the line equipment, became fully insured and now we are also building decks, wrought iron fences, home remodeling, and pressure washing houses and driveways. We are business vendors with property management companies and do business with HOAs, businesses, and residential homes.
We love our customers! Have gotten many great reviews. Most of our business comes from word of mouth, we also get a lot of business thru thumbtack, google, Facebook, and yelp. I am a Vietnam Veteran and have lived in the Montrose, Heights, and Northwest areas since 1971. Have been married for 43 years, have a son, two daughters, and 12 grandkids.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
We started our company in May 2016 and there were some hard times. Starting an outdoor business in the beginning of summer in Houston is brutal. We managed to start our work early and finish before one o’clock. Business was brisk but still managed to make a profit. We were blessed!
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Daniel & Son Fence Restoration – what should we know?
We build wood fences, decks, patios, install wrought iron fences, home remodeling, and pressure wash homes, driveways, pool decks, and patios. We specialize in all of these areas. We are mostly known for our wood and wrought iron fences and decks. What sets us apart from our competitors is: great friendly service, best attitude, our constant contact with customers, highest quality materials, professional grade workmanship, reliable on time service, and very competitive prices.

Our family members have been great supporters. They’ve cheered for us, have given us great reviews when they’ve visited our job sites. Our clients have praised our work. Some have chosen us over our competitors even when our prices were higher than theirs. At first we didn’t understand why but now do. It’s our great attitude, we explain to our prospective customers exactly what our job is going to require so they will receive more than what they’re expecting.
