Today we’d like to introduce you to Daniela Cabrona.
Daniela, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I have been watching YouTube since as long as I can remember. Before that, were magazines—Teen Vogue, Seventeen to Cosmopolitan. Always looking for someone who I could identify with. It was because of this I decided to start my own YouTube channel.
I’ve lived my entire life not ever fitting into one box. I am a Latina with Mexican parents and raised in a nice neighborhood with a father with a salary and a stay at home mom. I didn’t realize the privileges my peers didn’t have would give me cultural challenges as a teen. I never knew where I fit. I was either too American for my family or too Mexican for my American friends. I wanted to create a space for people like me and ensure them that it’s okay to be multi-faceted and diverse, in fact, it’s a blessing in disguise. To have various interests and be able to discuss several topics while being myself is the epitome of who I am and that’s what I want my YouTube to be. You can come, shop around and watch what you feel you need that day. I hope every person who comes to my channel feels understood and motivated to be themselves and just live the life you were given. After all, we’re just all trying to figure it out.
Has it been a smooth road?
Not at all. The “attracting followers” piece is hard. Calls to Action via other social media platforms are built to be difficult and not encouraging.
I can have all the messaging and packaging in the world but if you aren’t attracting the perfect person AND getting them to click a couple more links to get to you, they won’t.
We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
I am a Latina YouTube vlogger and digital content creator. I’m most proud of my YouTube channel being realistic and wholly who representative of I am. I want to show that being an educated and creative Latina is possible and that we too can have a space in this market. There are messages to be said for my tribe and I can’t wait to have a loyal audience to have a dialogue with.
Lastly, I am beginning the ideation phase of a business. Stay tuned!
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
Things are definitely going to change as far as promotions. There will need to be more of a bought paid promotion to lure people in. It’s already super challenging. Micro-influencers are everywhere and all fighting for airtime.
