Meet Danielle McAdory of Urban Luxe Properties in Central

Today we’d like to introduce you to Danielle McAdory.

Danielle, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Having grown up in Las Vegas, NV, I moved to Houston right after I graduated high school to attend PVAMU. I quickly discovered I did not have enough financial aid to continue on like an out of state student. I then had to leave school, find an apartment and job and work for a year until I could become a resident and get in-state tuition and go back to school. From there, I started working in the apartment leasing industry. I spent my free time browsing through the apartment guide book you used to be able to pick up at the grocery stores. That is how I learned the apartment communities and the neighborhoods. I had always wanted to pursue real estate but didn’t find it being the right time with school, working full time and a small child.

After six years in property management, I moved on to the corporate housing industry. I then was able to obtain my real estate license. I started off my real estate career as an apartment locator. I quickly found a passion for the luxury apartment industry. I was intrigued by keeping up with the new properties, market rents, comparing amenities, the whole nine. You could send me a picture of a pool and I knew exactly which property it belonged to. I enjoyed touring properties for fun! I was successful and really enjoyed luxury apartment locating but still felt a void to learn the sales side of the industry. I then gained experience from a sales team that focused on residential transactions in the suburbs, as well as a brokerage that specialized in the luxury home sales market. I even dabbled a little with commercial transactions. I always found myself taking the time to train and offer assistance to others. I also have always had a passion for business development, marketing, and branding. My ultimate goal was to open my own brokerage. At this point, I felt I was ready. I had a vast range of experience, felt I could put my own flare on it and was confident my brokerage would hit the ground running. So, I did it! I took a huge leap of faith and opened Urban Luxe Properties in 2016.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It definitely has been a roller coaster but I wouldn’t change it for the world. Lots of faith and determination have gotten me to where I am today. Believing in myself and my brand has been a huge contribution as well. Starting a business without some of the necessary resources causes you to wear many hats. To start, I was taking care of the branding, managing, accounting, marketing, all of it, as well as still working my own transactions to keep money coming into my own household. Long hours have been put in but over time, I have been able to remove some of those hats and watch as Urban Luxe flourishes.

Urban Luxe Properties – what should we know? What do you do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Urban Luxe Properties is a full-service boutique real estate brokerage. We were established in 2016 and now have a team of 18 agents. We specialize in high-end apartment rentals and new construction home sales but are able to also assist with all your buying, selling and renting residential needs as well as commercial transactions. We offer a very non-traditional approach to real estate. We are big on social media, we text our clients if that is their preferred method of communication. We are giving facetime tours to accommodate our busy clients. Up and current with all of the latest technology to make the transaction as smooth as possible. Weekends do not mean the week has ended for us. Ultimately, we pride ourselves on our effective communication style and our passion. We treat all of our clients like family and offer a personalized experience. Our clients looking for an apartment are given the same experience as the ones looking for a million-dollar home. We are also a very diverse group of agents. It was important to me when establishing Urban Luxe that it was a place where all of our agents were comfortable being themselves and felt at home here on our team.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
To me, success is defined by waking up each morning and truly enjoying what you are doing. Success is following your passion to give you a sense of excitement and fulfillment. As much as I love expensive things, I wouldn’t say a dollar amount is equivalent to success in my eyes. It is more a feeling of satisfaction and gratitude.
