Meet Danny Evans of Kirby Ice House in Greenway Plaza

Today we’d like to introduce you to Danny Evans.

Danny, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I’ve been in the bar business for 25 years and I was approached with an opportunity to build Kirby Ice House with the Morgan family on some land they own.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
This has been the easiest and smoothest project I’ve been involved with and it’s been a home run from day 1.

Kirby Ice House – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
We have everything a great bar would have, 51 beers on tap, frozen cocktails, a great wine selection and a wide selection of liquor. We have a very unique backyard and the biggest in the city. Kirby Ice House is about 6,000 square feet and the majority of it is our open backyard and has state of the art TV and audio packages throughout the property.

Our backyard houses 4 large live oak trees, is uniquely furnished with bright furniture, and food trucks stationed here daily as well as crawfish boil in the spring on Saturdays and Sundays. We’ve hosted events for up to 800 people and have the ability to host multiple large parties throughout the space at one time. We allow patrons to bring in their own food and we do not impose any fees or minimums to host an event with us which I feel sets us apart from most venues in the city.

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
Seeing my employees grow and eventually being successful in life.
