Today we’d like to introduce you to Darien Smith.
Hi Darien, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
At 15 My cousin, known as RocShotDot was killed doing videography and photography and he was always like an idol to me growing up and he got me into filming and taking pictures so when he passes away, it motivated to go all in and fulfill his legacy he left behind. I knew if there was anybody in this family to do it then it would have to be me. I started at 14, took it serious at 15, and have progressed and still going now at age 16.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Not having any transportation, maintaining and gaining a clientele, being took for granted because of my age, and downplaying my capabilities.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
I’m a Photographer, Videographer, Graphic Designer, and Editor. I specialize in photography but not known by my music videos I’ve shot and artist I’ve worked with. What separates me from other is my age, mindset, and accountability, with me being as young as I am, I get took for granted because many think I’m a young reckless high school student just trying to have fun and just doing this. When in reality I progressed my craft, I built myself as an individual and business owner, I trained my brain to know who I am as a businessman and as a regular human being, and gave myself rules and boundaries to obey by to be sure I run a successful business. Sure, I’m not perfect but I do the up most best of my abilities and bring more than enough to the table
We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
I think taking fish is a very important thing and everyone should do it because if you’re not willing to take risk then you’re not willing to do what you have to do to be successful in life. Life is full of risk and not many chances. I took the risk of having a roof over my head and a school education.
