Today we’d like to introduce you to Darlington Agbude.
Hi Darlington, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
As far back as my childhood days, Music, Art, and Creativity, in general, has always been a very important part of my life. However, I didn’t quite give my full attention due to circumstances beyond my control. Anything outside of the traditional educational system back in the day wasn’t considered serious.
Luckily for me, I was able to study Creative Arts and kept my passion for Music and Dance side by side. Long story short, I never dropped it; more like my passion kept pulling me back. Wherever I went, and whatever I did, my creativity, the gift inside of me kept calling. Here I am today, an all-round creative with vast knowledge and experiences.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Trying to pursue a career in the creative industry or following one’s passion can be very challenging without the right support. I am not talking about financial support; I mean your environment and a whole lot of other factors. A lot has changed in the last couple of years; back then our options were quite limited. There weren’t a lot of opportunities for beginners; we literally had to create our own opportunities.
The love in my heart and my passion was always the steady drive that kept me going relentlessly and consistently. The goal and the destination was secondary, I understood that success is actually a by-product of pursuing our dreams and the journey was all that mattered.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a Singer-songwriter, Entertainer, Dancer, Drummer, and Producer. I am also a Creative Graphic Designer/Design Consultant with vast experience in Print and Digital Media. I also have a background in Painting and General Arts.
In our society, these seem like two different disciplines, but that is not how I see it. To me, creativity shouldn’t be partitioned into various aspects or types.
My latest project, myself and an amazing team of creatives from England, America, and Nigeria put together an Uplifting, Emotional Love Song titled “Love You – Ti Ti Lai Lai,” which means ‘Love You Forever’ in Yoruba Language, Nigeria, West Africa. The song is about an intense connection of two people deeply drawn together. A relationship that is destined to be. They both complete each other on many levels, building and creating a life that transcends many lifetimes.
As part of the release of “Love You – Ti Ti Lai Lai,” a very romantic music video was shot in one of London’s largest Iconic locations called “Crossrail Place Rooftop Gardens.” Crossrail Place sits almost exactly on the Meridian line, and the planting is arranged according to which hemisphere they are from with Asian plants such as bamboos to the east and plants such as ferns from the Americas to the west.
The inspiration was drawn from a feeling of excitement that comes from being in love, celebrating, and enjoying each other’s company on a warm summer day.
According to the lyrics of the song, “Higher and Far Away We Go” the location was at the topmost floor of the building, and myself and the London-based Professional Model/Vixen “Susy Etionsa” really had a fantastic time performing in this magnificent garden that is literally up in the sky.
We also had scenes from a really beautiful restaurant called “The Pergolia At The Wharf”, sipping on some really nice Mocktails and Cocktails right there in canary wharf, London City.
The official music video and the song can be streamed on all major music platforms. Streaming Link: https://linktr.ee/darlington_
Having this much skills, knowledge, and experiences creatively is a true blessing. This is what I’m most proud of and what sets me apart from others. When I create, I see things from a whole different perspective; kind of hard to explain but I just get it. My imagination and thought processes are one of my greatest tools.
Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
I was always curious growing up. I loved reading, studying, asking questions, and figuring how things worked.
People considered me shy and withdrawn, while others thought I was a bit of an extrovert. Truth is, I’m a bit of both. I love to be out there but also need my space to be able to process things.
I am a highly intuitive left-handed Gemini… lol
