Today we’d like to introduce you to Darrell Colone.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I would always plan a huge birthday party for myself every year, I would save my money and plan this over the top stylish party, and I would have over 300 guests. People would always ask who planned and designed your party I would say I did, I never really thought it was a big deal I just always knew what I wanted and I would use amazing vendors to execute my ideas. Then my sister got engaged, and she asked me to plan her wedding, I immediately declined but she begged me, I knew right off we would get along while playing because we are so much alike lol. I had never planned a wedding I had no idea where to start, then the wedding was to be held in Beaumont TX, which is where I am from. I knew that the type of wedding she wanted Beaumont did not have the vendors we needed, to accommodate a luxury wedding. I was so lost, so a friend told me to reach out to the vendors I would use for my bday parties, what a relief! I was able to bring vendors from Houston to Create an amazing wedding for my sister, during the process I think I quit everyday lol she was so mean to me lol, but I made it through. The wedding was so amazing, everyone would say that we needed camera’s following us for that year of planning, we had all of the drama lol. After my sister’s wedding I thought I was done planning weddings I had a full time job that took a lot of my time. About a year later a college friend called me and asked me to plan her wedding I told her I don’t plan wedding, she was like your sister’s wedding was so beautiful please plan my wedding. She lived and worked in Saudi Arabia, so she told me that she wanted to meet with me when she came down to discuss her wedding, I was like ok, so I did some research for venues etc. here in the Houston area. When she first arrived I created a questionnaire I asked her several questions an out her dream wedding day, so she started by saying Darrell I am turning 40 and I want to marry myself, I was like ok is she serious, so I planned her a fabulous wedding that was held at the African American Cultural museum, this went viral. I later started receiving calls about planning wedding, my business was birthed then. I have been featured in MunaLuchi Bridal magazine several times, I have also planned a wedding in Nigeria. My business is thriving I would have never thought my life would end up like this living a dream that I never really acknowledged I love the planning and designing aspects of wedding planning. My customer service and attention to detail has really taken my business to the next level.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Honestly it has been pretty smooth ride, but in the begging I would be on social media looking at all of the top wedding planners and I would say I wish I could do weddings on that level, I wished and prayed and amazing clients started to come my way, I then had amazing content to show the world.

My business name is Events With Darrell, I am a wedding/event planner. My specialty is designing luxury weddings and events. I am known for my customer service, and attention to detail. I am most proud that I was able to grow my company in a very short time. The things that sets me apart is my customer service, being personal and being able to produce amazing weddings and events.
If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
