Today we’d like to introduce you to David Johnson.
Thanks for sharing your story with us David. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
After training many years in the martial arts and competing in tournaments throughout the United States I opened my own studio “K2 Karate” in 1998. Named after the mountain “K2” one of the most challenging to climb, I decided it was a good fit for my studio’s name since martial arts has many levels and goals just like climbing a mountain. In Karate and other martial arts you start at the bottom and work your way up to the top. Over the years K2 Karate has been changed to Team K2 Karate since the name K2 has become popular with other non-related studios. Now Team K2 Karate has produced over 30 world martial arts titles in the NBL “National Black Belt league and countless Texas state titles. We are on the path to expand our styles and continue to grow over the next 10 years.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
There has been many struggles over the past 15 years including hip surgery for myself 5 years ago ( I had to jog backwards to rehab myself for 6 months then go on a still compete in tournaments. Also the death of a student who returned from the Army and many business learning curbs that take time to master over the years.

Here at Team K2 Karate we offer martial arts for men, women and children of all ages and specialize in 1st time Karate students by helping them start out on the right foot and not just throwing them in a class. Classes include traditional martial arts in a positive family environment which promotes leadership skills and self-discipline.

I give a lot of credit to some of students who worked so hard to become martial arts world champions as well as champions in life.
