Today we’d like to introduce you to David Kim.
David, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Jumping World is an independently owned family entertainment center chain that was founded by two brothers back in 2012 in their adopted hometown, Houston. Both brothers grew up in Gwangju, South Korea, but lived in Houston for decades.
Seeing the general lack of family entertainment centers that provide active and healthy family activities and the poor customer service provided by the few trampoline park franchised chains, the two brothers sought to change that. With the early success and the continued support of returning customers, Jumping World has expanded to ten locations throughout Texas, Tennessee, and Georgia by 2018!
I personally began working for the company back in 2016 after I graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a degree in Finance and History. I am the son of one of the brothers, and after a lengthy discussion, we decided to roll the dice and put me on board. As with any growing companies, many positions overlap. I am currently the Chief Financial Officer, Marketing Director, and Operational Manager.
Our short term and long term goals have always been and always will be to constantly look for ways to improve our services in order to make sure every family leaves Jumping World with a smile on their face.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Just like any new industries, the market has become saturated with competitors.
Fortunately for us, we operate all of our stores, unlike our franchised competitors. This has allowed us to be creative with our approach to new locations and also with the remodeling of our existing locations which aligns with our goal of putting smiles on the whole family.
Jumping World – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Jumping World is a family entertainment center chain that is always constantly looking to improve our customers’ experience. We differentiate between trampoline parks by having different attractions at our facilities. Mechanical bull ride, water ball (think hamster ball but for people!), redemption arcade games, ninja warrior course, zip line – are all examples of different attractions you may see at one of our locations.
We are proud of the fact that all of our stores are privately owned and operated because that ensures us and customers that the customer service provided by Jumping World will not disappoint!
