Meet David Sustaita of Convergence Audio in Katy

Today we’d like to introduce you to David Sustaita.

Thanks for sharing your story with us David. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I’ve been drawn to music from a very early age. I started with piano and then picked up saxophone in junior. After that I picked up guitar, drums, bass and vocals soon after. I always excelled in music and eventually found the art of recording it and mixing it; making it sound pro and ready for consumption. All of that fascinated me and I took my very first steps into the recording world my senior year of high school. Since then I found a community called “Nail the Mix” or “URM – Unstoppable Recording Machine” and fostered my skills, learning from some of the best and highest regarded producers and engineers in the rock/metal industry. Being in such an immersive community helped me to get to where I am now, and has taught me very valuable things that I apply in my everyday business and life. Now I am in the grind game, trying to take on as much work as possible while delivering the high quality audio that I’ve worked hard to be able to produce.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has been a smooth road in terms of client satisfaction. All my clients have absolutely loved their end product and it overjoys me to be able to say that. I do have struggles in finding work in the genre that I want to work in, which is metal. I mostly get singer-songwriter/acoustic/pop type projects, but where I really excel the most is in the modern metal genre. To this date I have not worked with a single metal artist, I hope to in the future, but right now that is my main struggle.

Convergence Audio – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
My business does anything audio. Form recording, editing, mixing, mastering, producing, composing, ghost writing, post production, etc. You name it. I specialize in mixing, that is my specialty by far. I love recording and doing the other things but if I could mix forever, I would. I feel that the quality I offer in my mixes for the price point, is something that not many people have to offer. I’m known for mixing, and pristine vocal production. As a business, I’m most proud of being able to say that I never disappoint a client in the end product of work. Everyone that I’ve worked with has seen my attention to detail and how meticulous I get with my work, and they appreciate what I do. I believe that my customer service and my mix quality sets me apart from others. I try to go above and beyond with my service to my clients and show them that I’m immersed in their project. When they receive the final mix and master, the value that my service has to offer is apparent.

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
Every single mix I do becomes the next proudest moment in my career. I see how I improve mix after mix, and the results, no matter how small, make me proud.
