Today we’d like to introduce you to David Wolfe.
David, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
My business partner and I were teachers at H&H Music at Baybrook. When we heard that our location was closing, we decided to open put own music lesson studio. One other teacher that worked with us followed us, which was great because we had a student base as soon as we opened. We immediately hired a few other teachers, who are still with us after 12 years!
We have expanded once and now have nine rooms for private instruction and hope to expand again very soon.
Our business specializes in one on one music lessons which vary from anything band and orchestra to voice, piano, drums, guitar, and bass. We also have rock band group classes, camps, and recitals.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Compared to other start-up businesses, I think things have been relatively smooth. Mind you, we are musicians that had to learn how to run a business so there were some growing pains.
Please tell us about Clear Lake Music Lessons Inc.
We are known for one on one private music instruction. People know that we teach music not just songs. Our teachers are passionate about music and customize the lesson for each particular student.
We are most proud of the quality instruction each teacher offers. We see the results in the students during recitals and concerts and appreciate the parents trust in us as a company.
I believe the difference between us and other companies is that we feel part of the community as well as the families who entrust us with their musical education.
If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
I think so, but I think everyone who runs a business would say yes. There are just things you don’t know or account for until you’ve experienced them.
I would have hired an accountant from the outset rather than try to figure it out myself!
