Today we’d like to introduce you to De’Ante Roberts.
De’Ante, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I started music at the early age of 6. I was raised Southern Baptist and went to church every Sunday. My mother played the piano and I play the drums. That was my first introduction. When I was 16, I found my love for writing and singing. I believe I surprised everyone when they heard my voice. Certainly, my mother. I always tell people that God aligned me with all the right people from birth. When I was 17, I approached my good childhood friend tiny man, who was producing beats at the time, and told him I’m confident that we could make it one day. In between, that was a lot of work and refining myself into the artist I am today. I met my entire band as a child. We’ve been rocking together since. When I met my manager Lucas and he began booking me shows, my music began to take off in a big way. Since then, we’ve been rocking out stages all over Texas.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth journey. I think the hardest struggle for me was trying to decide my identity in music. I can sing and make you feel real emotion, but I can also spit bars with the best of them. I was sure if I was a rapper or a singer. One day it dawned on me. I can take elements of both and create my own sound.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the De’Ante Roberts story.
I am an artist. I create music that invokes emotion and feeling. I’m telling everyone now. I’m the next hottest artist coming out of the south. My band and I work extremely hard to ensure that we give you guys a quality sound and an unforgettable show, whether it’s ten people or 1000.
Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I don’t believe in luck. Hard work and my faith in God has helped me get into doors that I wasn’t qualified to be in.
