Meet Deborah Estrada of Houston

Today we’d like to introduce you to Deborah Estrada

Hi Deborah, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’m a part time content creator and social media manager. I got started back in 2020 when I got laid off my job. I put more time into creating hair tutorials on instagram. While I did get hired back a few months later, I still pursued my creative side by continuing to post hair tutorials that helped grow my community and also land brand deals. I also found hula hooping during this time and would record my progress which landed me an opportunity to become a hula hoop coach for elementary students in 2022. This eventually led to me becoming a social media manager for the company.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
There were quite a few bumps such as being unemployed during a pandemic but also quitting one job and starting a new one in a completely different field was new to me and took some getting used to.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a part time hula hoop coach for Mad About Hoops after school program. I coach elementary students how to make fitness fun by teaching them how to waist hoop and many other tricks that come with it. I’m mostly known for my hair content but slowly transitioned to include all of my hobbies that are important to me such as hula hooping, bullet journaling and mindfulness. I’m most proud of the journey I’ve been on and discovering who I really am while inspiring others to be proud of who they are. What sets me apart from others is my energy! I’m often told I’m a ray of sunshine and I instantly brighten up a room. I’m also empathetic which helps me put myself in someone else’s shoes. I know how it feels to feel unwelcome for being different so I make it a priority to make everyone feel welcome and safe to be themselves in my presence.

Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
I’m not sure who this is for but my heart is telling whoever is reading this to give yourself some grace. We all have struggles we all have hiccups and bumps in the road. You only fail if you don’t try. So, always give it your best shot. It won’t always be 100% but 30% is better than 0%.
