

Today we’d like to introduce you to Deion Whorton Sr.
Deion, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I had worked in medical and insurance billing for several years before starting PCS Revenue Cycle Management. In the summer of 2019, my little family had an opportunity to move to Houston area. So we took the leap of faith and relocated. I continued my work in medical billing when we moved. I started to notice patterns in rejections and denials from insurance companies and how claims were submitted. I also noticed that doctors and other medical professionals were leaving money on the table. I knew there were ways for doctors and practices to increase revenue. I also started to notice a pattern of private practices joining forces with larger companies to survive. That’s when the idea started but that was all it was an idea started running past my wife. Well, fast forward 6 months and Covid 19 hit, I was the new guy at the company and my job was the one that got sacrificed. When I saw the writing on the wall, I had started making steps to start PCSRCM. So here I am today, running PCS Revenue Cycle Management, helping doctors stay private and profitable.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has not been a smooth road. I don’t know that starting any type of business is smooth especially during a global pandemic. There have definitely been highs and lows, more highs than lows. Some of my struggles were finding ways to get in front of decision makers. Finding creative ways to market and get in my information to doctors/ practices when they were not open to the public. Another struggle was learning who to trust. There are so many people out there who claim they want to help, but are really only trying to sell their product/service. Another struggle has been learning to stick to the value of the services I provided. I have found that some are only interested in the price not the value of the service being provided.

PCS Revenue Cycle Management is a full service medical billing and consulting company. We provided medical billing services for doctors and medical practices in the private sector. In addition, we provided consulting services. It is our mission to help doctors and practices stay private and profitable. We specialize in Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, Family Medicine, and OBGYN practices. What sets us apart is our restlessness in ensuring doctors get every penny they deserve. Another thing that sets us apart is our transparency and personalized services. We are also known for getting claims submitted correctly the first time; however, if there is a denial we are known for our quit turn around in getting claims paid. I am most proud of the work I do to help educate practitioners, my consulting work. It is the most rewarding part of my business helping doctors bring in more revenue with simple fixes and billing for services they are already providing.
How do you think about happiness?
Seeing private practices thriving and doctors building a legacy for future doctors. Medical professionals should have the ability build a legacy. A practice to pass on to future generations. I’m building my business and doctors should be able to have the power in their businesses. When medical practices are forced into merging with larger companies, they lose most of the control.
