Today we’d like to introduce you to Delara Shirvani.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Having a clothing boutique was always a dream of mine since I was a little girl. Growing up, my mom had her own boutique, and I remember going to work with her and loving every second of being there with her. I never thought maybe one day I would be doing the same thing. It was always just a dream. In 2019 when I faced the hardest fight of my life, I realized life it so short. Being diagnosed with cancer will opened my eyes in many ways. One being that life can easily be taken away from you. Realizing tomorrow is never promised I had feel better and go after my dreams/passions in life. So, I started Shop Vani in 2020 in the middle of the pandemic. I never thought I could take my business to the levels I have taken it to this day. I am so grateful and proud that I took a leap of faith and started Shop Vani. Now 3 years later, we have opened up our first store in Houston, Tx, and our online boutique is going strong.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The obstacles have been challenging for sure. I had to start this business from nothing and no clue where to even start. I have made many mistakes and learned so many lessons. Sometimes I would want to give up because I didn’t think I could do it anymore. In the beginning, I was so hard on myself; if I didn’t make a sale one day I just felt like a failure. I had to always take a step back and remind my self that nothing is easy in life. Not giving up is hard when times are tough, but when you get through it, the reward is better than anything else in this world.
Thanks – so, what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I have a women’s clothing boutique in Houston. Fashion is my one true love, and I feel so fortunate to have the opportunity to share my passion with my community. Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
I see Shop Vani growing into different cities in Texas, and the biggest dream would be to have multiple store fronts in Houston. Seeing my “Shop Vani” sign for the first time in front of store and it just was the best feeling in the world. It was worth all the hard work. Never give up on your dreams!!
