Today we’d like to introduce you to Demetrius Hines.
Demetrius, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I always was very creative growing up, whether it was building random things with Lego’s or drawing random pictures of cartoon characters. My eye for art was always there. Growing up, my family always had disposable cameras lying around and just being the kid I was, I would pick it up and start pointing and clicking the cheap plastic button. Fast forward many years later, I have a Sony Cybershot, and there was no one safe of me not taking random pictures to create memories. Unfortunately, I ended up losing my Sony camera and just got out of photography, not knowing I would be where I’m at today. In 2015 I got my first DSLR camera and immediately fell in love. I made it a goal of mine not only to create but share methods with others. Although it’s still a ton of things, I need to learn. I’m thankful for everyone that supports me in my Journey. I have three G’s I live by daily, My number one is GOD because without him there is no me. Number 2 is GROWTH. Whether the outcome is good or bad, it molds you to become something more. My number 3 is GRIND. Don’t stop working until you’re where you want to be.
Has it been a smooth road?
No, not at all. Speaking as a creator, the hardest part of creating wishes you had more time to create. For some people on the outside looking in think, “oh, he/she is a photographer, they must have it easy. “Creativeness, budget and time will always be Challenges whether you’re a professional or amateur.
We’d love to hear more about your work.
I started TeddyLovesVisuals in 2016. I’m amateur/freelance photographer. What i specialize in is Street fashion although I love photography in general that’s my favorite style of shooting. I’m known for bringing out the best version of yourself, majority of people I’ve worked with are not models just some are just friends with other career paths I thought it would be best to promote my friends on their careers. I’m most proud of my brand is starting somewhere; a few years, I didn’t know where I was going. Something that sets me apart from others is that I have that genuine connection with my clients. I want everything to feel and be authentic.
Is our city a good place to do what you do?
I do feel like Houston is a good city to start photography. I would recommend anything, one thing that I have learned is Houston is so diverse in culture.
