Meet Demiro Baeza of BrainBoard Technologies & SafeRide in Sugar Land and Prairie View

Today we’d like to introduce you to Demiro Baeza.

Demiro, before we jump into specific questions about your work, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I have always been passionate about technology, more specifically about computers. Knowing what’s important role computers have on a global scale, I have always admired the people that brought these wonderful innovations to life. Throughout my childhood, I used to watch my brother use different electronics, so inevitably, curiosity overwhelmed me. I wanted to learn more, and I started asking him questions, but I would always get the same response: “This is for me to know and for you to find out.” Soon enough, I finally had the answer to the question all the adults in my life had for me: “What do you want to do when you grow up?” I wanted to become a computer engineer, and starting my own application developing company was the first step towards reaching my desired result.

My daily life consists of being a volunteer firefighter for two  fire departments. I attend Prairie View A&M University for Electrical Engineering as a full time student while being in the United States Army as a contracted cadet. I own two companies and also work from home on the corporate side of Apple as a technical advisor. In the summer time, I travel frequently and I am a donation representative for United Negro College Fund as where I travel to several countries and raise money for teens to be able to go to college. A typical morning for me is waking up at 4:45 AM for Physical Training, get finished around 6:45 am and go home and getting ready for regular and military classes, I train twice a week as well, then come home and work  for apple, then study and go to sleep and get ready to start the day all over again.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Many obstacles that I’ve faced along the way were the costs of various things. People never really tell you how much a business can cost. Its not just all about the buy and sell of a product or service. Its about the overwhelming costs of insurance, research, marketing & advertising, Payroll, taxes, CRM application, and much more.

We’d love to hear more about your work.
My IT company, which is BrainBoard Technologies specializes in Security Systems customization & integration with other things such as an access control systems, including the use of biometric devices as well. BrainBoard has many fields that it caters to also including residential & commercial audio systems and home theaters.

My Non-Profit I own is called SafeRide. The organization’s focus is a fast, safe and reliable method of transporting young women and men to their residences at night when leaving campuses of their respective colleges. After seeing many reports around the country primarily about women being targets of sexual assault on many collegiate campuses, I see the need for a safe way for these young ladies, and men to be transported safely late at night to on-campus housing and buildings. (i.e.. On-Campus Library to On-Campus Residence) This organization is put together by my fantastic team of volunteers who work around the clock to ensure this program works efficiently. Since this program has just started, we have a GoFundMe started to the asset in the start-up cost. https://www.gofundme.com/f/help-students-get-home-safe
