Today we’d like to introduce you to Denise Bowley.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Our investment group purchased Americas Storage in April of 2014. We saw tremendous upside and many improvements that would appeal to our current and future customers and started with improvements the day of purchase and have not stopped yet. Our facility is primary a boat and RV storage center on 646 right on the way to Galveston Bay. We have customers who are sport fishermen and professional fishing guides as well as tons of Rv’ing baby boomers. Our store manager knows each and every one of our customers and works hard to keep the facility neat and tidy.
We have added additional cameras, better software, painted parking bays and expanded to allow for more local residents store their recreational vehicles.
Has it been a smooth road?
Not at all…the biggest struggle was a building fire which happened in July of 2016. The building was a total loss.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Americas Storage story. Tell us more about the business.
Americas Storage is owned by Galveston County Self Storage Group, LLC and managed by Grow Your Storage, LLC, I am an investor in the property and co-owner of Grow Your Storage, LLC, which is a property management company specializing in self-storage. We manage our own facilities (such as Americas Storage) and facilities owned by others who wish to have a professionally run facility.
We are proud of the work we have accomplished at Americas Storage, it has truly become the facility to store your boat or RV.
We care about our customers and their needs, even providing vending snacks for hunger anglers and travelers.
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
I believe boat and RV storage facilities will expand of the next 5 to 10 years. Studies show baby boomers love to travel and a lot of them are buying RV’s.
