Today we’d like to introduce you to Denishia Linton.
Denishia, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
When I was about 18 years old, I came out of my comfort zone and started creating my own looks. A lot of people liked the looks I put together and begin to compliment me. After constantly telling people where I purchased things from, I had thoughts to turn it into a business. But of course, I had a lot of discourages because I didn’t think no one would support me.
Soon as I thought I was ready to start the business, I became pregnant with my son so I then started second-guessing about starting my business. After I had my son, I went through depression for six months. Literally the worse six months of my life. I didn’t think I was pretty anymore, I literally thought the worse of myself until my 22nd birthday came and I started receiving lots of compliments again. I started doing research and wanted to take starting my own boutique more serious. Only thing was is that I was in college, working and a mom so it made things a lot more challenging. I was in school for nursing and had to take my NLN Exam but I failed by 10 points. My feelings were hurt after that and I really started looking for vendors to start my boutique.
After thinking, I was all set “BOOM!” I got into in a car accident. After that car accident, I couldn’t walk and had damage in my brain. It was a little depressing but I kept faith and was able to walk a month later. After sitting at home all those days, I thought about taking my NLN Exam again. This time I failed by 2 points. At this point, my feelings were very hurt and I was super sad so I decided to go talk to a councilor. I then started to ask GOD “what did he have planned for me and to show me signs”.
To make a long story short, I finally overcame all my discourages and started watching “How to become a Millionaire” videos. I didn’t have a plan but I still decided to get my LLC in February of 2020 to push myself to stay focus. Everything was finally coming together so and I started creating my website myself. My website started to look absolutely beautiful so I started to become more confident. I planned to start this business on March 26, 2020 (my Birthday) but due to COVID a lot of my shipments were backed up.
Finally, I started my business on June 20th, 2020 (Fathers Day). A week before that day, I was brainstorming ways to make my boutique stand out. This may sound like a fairy tale but I walked into the garage and knew that I can turn it into my own boutique. I literally transformed my garage into a boutique in 3 days.
As of today, I’ve been in business for three months and business has been very steady. Some days I reach my daily sales goal and some days, I may not sale anything at all but I still keep faith. During these past three months, I made over 500 sales, which may not sound like a lot to some people but its a very lot to me due to me coming from a place where I barely know anyone. I’m just truly and blessed and grateful that GOD put me in the position to do something I love.
My business is here to stay and I don’t care if I go a whole year without saying anything, I’m not giving up. I literally built this business from the ground up and I’m going to do whatever I have to do to keep it alive.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
This road has been very challenging because I’m doing it all alone. I literally get up everyday and promote from when the sunrise until the sunset. My business is my second baby. A lot of people say that I’m pushing myself too hard but my business is all I got so if I go a whole day without making any sales, I have to think of a master plan to make sure that one day don’t turn into days.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Nesha’s Siddity Collection – what should we know?
Nesha’s Siddity Collection LLC is a women’s clothing boutique. It’s literally a one stop shop because I sell women’s clothes, shoes, and accessories. I’m most proud that I receive a lot of positive feedback. A lot of my customers always come back and that makes me feel like I’m completing my job. My prices are very reasonable and the quality of the items are good. I deliver excellent customer and make sure all my customers are satisfied.
Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
Honestly, a lot of my family and friends deserve all of the credit. If it wasn’t for both my moms (Demetrice & Shalena). My cousins (Aneisha, Asianna, & Johnnitta), my sisters (Darkiria, Kyara, & Rayonna), my best friend (keylia), my son (Torion) and most of all my customers, my boutique wouldn’t be here today. By support, I’m not referring to just purchases but what I am referring to is the consistency they have with liking, commenting and sharing they do to my posts. On the days I feel like giving up, they make sure I’m on my toes and I appreciate that a lot.
