Today we’d like to introduce you to Denisse Benitez.
Denisse, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I started when I was very young actually getting out of high school, I decided to try the cosmetology industry. And it truly was a hidden talent I never knew I had. As soon as I started school, I fell in love with the industry. Everyday was so exciting for me learning something new seeing all the transformations and all that you can accomplish in the industry.
It took me a long time to get where I am today, started off behind the chair and quickly knew this was nothing like beauty school. I then looked for a salon that offered education and found M salon.The best decision I ever made for my career.It took a lot of hard work and patience but it has all been worth it.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It definitely has its ups and downs. Like everything the beginning is always the hardest. Starting a name for your self, Establishing a clientele, making sure people trust you with their most precious thing (their hair ) was the toughest part. With that being said making sure I stay up to date with trends is my number one focus. Attending continuing education outside the salon so my clients get the best of the best.
Please tell us about M Salon.
I specialize in color transformations and haircuts. Having healthy hair is my main concern. A lot of the times I have turned down clients because of their hair conditions. I rather them have pretty healthy hair other than damaged dead hair and they know that! All it takes is being patient “trust the process I say to them “lol. I always try to be very realistic with them with the expectations because no matter what we do my main concern is making sure my clients leave with a smile on their face that is my priority!
If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
If I was to start over I would definitely start in a salon that offered education! I have learned with time that is the most important thing to have because once you have that no one can take it away from you and you continue to grow day by day. There is definitely no limit to where you can get in this career.
