Today we’d like to introduce you to Desi Guerra.
Desi, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
So, I started doing hair straight out of high school about six years ago in 2014. Started at a family owned salon, built an amazing clientele and now present day in 2020 have my own hair studio and work for myself at the age of 25. 😊
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It has absolutely NOT been an easy road along the way. Having to go to school for 40 plus hours a week and on top of that working a full-time job. Then getting hired on to a job as a hair apprentice getting paid minimum wage for about a year while taking multiple training courses along the way.
Please tell us about your business.
So I’ve been self-employed in my studio for almost two years now and it’s definitely been a big eye opener for me now having to be a hairstylist and a business owner. I’m mainly proud on how quickly my business took off due to the amazing power of social media. Greatly appreciate Instagram and Facebook for the FREE marketing but what I feel that sets me aside from most hairstylist is how I love to try and give back as most as I can. I usually do about two giveaways annual to my clients and follow base as a token of appreciation to them for helping me grow and also for the amazing bond I have with my beautiful clients. Especially since I specialize in balayage hair coloring and blonds.
If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
If i could start all over again I wouldn’t change a single thing. all the struggles and obstacle that I have encounter along this journey has molded me into the business man and hairstylist I am today. Has definitely helped continue to make me grow also as a young adult.
