Today we’d like to introduce you to Desiree Kleypas.
Desiree, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I’ve been a hairstylist for nine years. As I changed my lifestyle, I changed my business practices as well. I started a community garden, Mid County Victory Garden, next to the salon I owned at the time. After a few years at that location, the opportunity to relocate both the salon and the garden became available. In April of 2019, I decided to blend all of my passions together and open Cactus Cactus, and organic salon, plant shop, and creative space. The new space allows me to practice as a holistic hairstylist using the Organic Way color line, sell organic hair products, succulents, cactus, art, and other fun items, plus offer gardening education with help from the local feed store, Mid County Farm and Feed.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Opening a new business is always stressful, and I did have a few obstacles, but nothing too out of the ordinary.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Cactus Cactus – what should we know?
I am one of the few holistic hairstylists in my area using the highest quality hair color lines available.
Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
I have an amazing group of friends, family, and clients who have supported me on this journey.
