Today we’d like to introduce you to Diana Figueira.
Hi Diana, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I have always believed that we carry a responsibility to pursue the best version of ourselves. For me, that journey led to starting my own business. Fitness has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember, I played sports from a very young age, like soccer and tennis; and have always enjoyed staying active. After spending several years consistently in the gym, I noticed an unmet need. There were two products I used frequently: workout gloves and lifting straps, that became inconvenient and uncomfortable when used together. That frustration sparked an idea: why wasn’t there a single product that combined both?
At the time, I was deeply focused on building something of my own within the fitness industry, a space that truly reflects my passion and lifestyle. It became clear that this idea was worth pursuing — a product that didn’t yet exist and could genuinely solve a problem for many athletes and gym-goers.
In 2023, I began designing what would become my innovation: Workout Gloves with Integrated Lifting Straps. I developed the first prototype and partnered with a manufacturer to refine the design. After multiple iterations, we created a product that seamlessly merged both functions into one comfortable, high-quality solution. From there, I launched my company, Fiters — a name inspired by the idea of becoming “fitter” and a fusion of my last names, Figueira and Tersek.
The entire journey has been both challenging and incredibly rewarding. I am deeply proud of the company and product I have built. Today, I continue to sell my gloves while working to grow the business to the next level. My goal is to keep innovating in the workout equipment space and deliver high-quality products that support people at every stage of their fitness journey.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has definitely not been a smooth road. I was turned down by several manufacturers who told me that what I was trying to create was impossible. Even after finding a manufacturer willing to work with me, the first few prototypes did not come close to what I had envisioned. There were times when I was frustrated and questioned whether I would ever be able to bring my idea to life.
What kept me going was determination and having a very clear vision of what I wanted to accomplish. I knew the product I wanted to create, and I was willing to keep refining it, learning from every setback, and pushing forward until I got there. Eventually, after multiple prototypes and a lot of time, effort, and investment, I was able to create the product I had envisioned.
Even today, entrepreneurship comes with moments of doubt. I still ask myself whether people will like the product, whether the business will succeed, and whether I am making the right decisions. But I have learned that doubt is part of the process. You keep showing up, you keep working, and you keep believing in the vision. Seeing my product come to life, selling it, and knowing that something that once only existed in my head is now being used by other people makes all of those challenges incredibly rewarding.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Fiters is a fitness brand focused on creating innovative workout products that solve real problems. Right now, our main product is our Workout Gloves with Integrated Lifting Straps, which combines two pieces of equipment into one product to make training more convenient and comfortable.
What makes Fiters special to me is that the brand was created from my own experience as an athlete and fitness enthusiast. I noticed a problem in my own training, came up with a solution, and took the idea from a concept to a real product. I am proud that I was able to create something that did not previously exist and turn it into a business of my own.
As a growing brand, I am still learning and developing every part of the business, from product development and manufacturing to marketing and growing our customer base. My long term goal is for Fiters to become known for innovative workout items, but right now I am focused on continuing to improve, grow, and build a strong foundation for the brand.
Most importantly, I want people to know that Fiters is built with genuine passion for fitness. Every product starts with a real need, and my goal is to create equipment that makes people’s workouts better, more comfortable, and more efficient.
Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
My biggest advice would be to start before you feel completely ready. When I started Fiters, I did not have everything figured out, and I definitely had moments where I questioned whether my idea would work. But you learn so much by actually taking the first step and figuring things out along the way.
I would also tell people not to let rejection or setbacks convince them that their idea is not worth pursuing. I was told by manufacturers that my product was impossible, and there were prototypes that did not turn out the way I wanted. Those moments were frustrating, but they taught me to be resilient and keep looking for a solution.
Most importantly, be prepared to dedicate a lot of time, energy, and sometimes money before you see the results you want. Building something takes patience. There will always be doubts, but if you believe in what you are doing, keep learning, keep improving, and keep showing up. You do not have to have everything figured out to start. You just have to be willing to take the first step and keep going.
