Meet Diego Cortez of Houston

Today we’d like to introduce you to Diego Cortez.

Hi Diego, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My greatest influence while growing up was my art teachers. They helped me explore my love of art and gave me all the knowledge and tools to develop my own artistic skills. They helped me see that making art is not just a pastime, but a powerful means of communication and way to provoke thought and inspiration.

It took a while to sharpen my skills. I tried many different mediums, and over time I became very passionate about painting. I found endless inspiration from other painters and learned there is no limit to what you can do with a paint brush. For me it became the perfect tool for creative self expression.

Today, I can describe my art as vibrant, whimsical, playful and surreal. With each new painting, I strive to improve my skills and dive deeper into my own self expression.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It hasn’t been a smooth road. Success is a continuous journey of improvement, learning and consistency. There is always an obstacle, a wall, a dead end… but perseverance pays off in the end.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Currently, I do freelance graphic design work and painting commissions. No project is too big or small. I’ve done projects ranging from custom stickers to portrait art.

I am proud of each one of my creations. I put all my love and effort into each piece. I am most known for detailed work, symmetry of design and using quality materials.

Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
Originality is the characteristic I feel is most important to my success. I feel my art stands out from the rest because of its uniqueness. I feel I have a distinctive point of view that sets me apart.
