Meet DiMon (Dyme) Henderson of Humble

Today we’d like to introduce you to DiMon (Dyme) Henderson.

Hi DiMon (Dyme), so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My journey with Dyme Loc’d It started from a personal love for locs and the culture, creativity, and confidence they carry. I’ve always had a passion for beauty and self-expression, but working with locs became more than just styling hair—it became a way of empowering people to embrace their natural crowns.

In the beginning, I was simply practicing on close friends, learning techniques, experimenting, and falling deeper in love with the craft. Over time, word of mouth spread, and I realized this was bigger than a hobby—it was a calling. I began taking clients, investing in my education, and perfecting my skills to give each person not only a fresh style, but also an experience that made them feel valued and seen.

Getting to where I am today hasn’t been easy—it’s taken patience, long hours, and the courage to step out as an entrepreneur. But the reward has been worth it: building a business that reflects who I am, creating a safe space for clients, and watching Dyme Loc’d It grow into a trusted name in my community. What started as a passion has turned into my purpose, and I’m grateful every day to continue this journey.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. Starting Dyme Loc’d It meant stepping out on faith with limited resources and learning how to build a business from the ground up. In the beginning, I faced challenges like investing in the right tools, finding consistent clients, and balancing long hours while still trying to keep my personal life in order.

Another struggle was learning to trust myself—doubting whether I was ready or ‘good enough’ compared to others in the industry. But every setback became a lesson. Late nights, canceled appointments, and even moments of burnout all pushed me to grow stronger, more professional, and more dedicated to my craft.

What’s carried me through has been my passion for locs, my clients’ support, and my vision for what Dyme Loc’d It could become. The road hasn’t been easy, but the challenges shaped me into the stylist and businesswoman I am today.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
At Dyme Loc’d It, I specialize in creating loc styles that are not only beautiful but also healthy and tailored to each client’s lifestyle. From starter locs to maintenance, styling, and creative designs, I focus on helping people embrace the journey of their natural hair with confidence.

What I’m most proud of is the trust my clients place in me. For many, their loc journey is deeply personal, and I get to be part of that transformation—from the very first twist to years of growth. I don’t just see myself as a stylist, but as someone who provides a safe space where clients feel comfortable, seen, and celebrated.

What sets me apart is the intentionality I bring to my work. Every style is done with care, creativity, and respect for the individuality of the client. I put a lot of energy into making sure the experience is just as valuable as the finished look. I’m known for giving my clients not only a style they love but also words of encouragement and positive energy that leave them feeling renewed inside and out.

For me, Dyme Loc’d It isn’t just about hair—it’s about culture, empowerment, and building confidence through authenticity.

We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
I define success by impact, not just income. Of course, building a business that supports me is important, but true success for me is knowing that my work with Dyme Loc’d It is changing how people see themselves. If a client leaves my chair feeling more confident, more beautiful, and more comfortable in their own skin—that’s success.

Success also means growth—personally and professionally. Every time I push past fear, learn a new skill, or see my business reach another milestone, that’s success to me. It’s not about perfection, but about consistency, passion, and staying true to my purpose.
