Today we’d like to introduce you to Dominique Perkins.
Dominique, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
The creation of my business, Marvelous Moments Media, was inspired by a fun and entertaining event I attended that had a Photo Booth. It was at a bar in Deep Ellum in Dallas, TX around December 2016. I was amazed at the setup and engagement opportunity it offered patrons. Most importantly, I admired how the Photo Booth was the LIFE OF THE PARTY!
Immediately, I knew that I wanted to start my own Photo Booth company. I spent roughly a year diligently researching the industry and market. April 2018, Marvelous Moments Media was introduced to Houston and surrounding areas.
I have been blessed to work along with YMCA of Greater Houston, Vantiv & Worldpay, United States Coast Guard Sector of Galveston & Houston. I am planning to increase my customers and bring awareness in 2019.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I encountered plenty of obstacles. First, the dedication to save enough money to purchase everything. I started by purchasing booths, printers, backdrop stands, sequin backdrop designs, cameras, tablets, software, insurance, web site design, marketing material, props, and much more items to effectively run this small business.
Mind you, I never operated any of this equipment in my life. So, a big part of my business was researching & learning my craft, which I am still doing to this day.
Another obstacle is balancing the workload of being a full-time employee and a full-time entrepreneur. Also, being my on social media and content manager is a tough job as well, but it’s very rewarding once I post pictures from an event, and then I get a “hit” for another opportunity.

We specialize in Photo Booth rentals, event photography, and social media & content marketing. We offer a unique photography experience and will bring FUN and excitement to any event. Such as parties, sporting events, weddings, graduations, and corporate functions. Our goal is to reach beyond 100,000 smiles in the city of Houston.
Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
My favorite childhood memory is playing for a little league team by the name of the Oakcliff Gators. From my 3rd to 7th grade year we truly dominated youth sports in the Dallas area. Lol, I don’t remember losing any games. All I can remember is hearing cheers from all the moms on the sideline, the uniformed beat of the football pads, and whistles from the referee after scoring countless touchdowns.
