Meet Donald Bruce Jackson Jr

Today we’d like to introduce you to Donald Bruce Jackson Jr.

Donald, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Well, I started in Beaumont, TX, my father Donald Bruce Jackson, Sr he was a minister at Mount Gilead Baptist Church and my mom Pamela Washington was in the Army so I was in a very strict household. The music I could only hear was the gospel in Barry white. Until 2007 when I heard pain buy you a drank, then I decided then I wanted to do music I got his app and everything to try to copy his voice. I was in the choir at church so sing was like second nature to me. I wouldn’t say I am the best but I make beautiful sounds and music out of voice so I stuck to it. I had a lot of struggles in life as well. When I was 15, my mama and dad got a divorce and it really cut my family in half at the time, I was playing football for the Westbrook Bruins butt had to quite my Ten Grade year because of living situations. I moved to five different states in high school, just to have a roof over my head. I went through that all the way until I was 21 when I made a choice to go to school and I went to Blinn College in Brenham Texas where I really made a name for myself.

I got viral with 26,000 at the time with TreNubb jamming my song and my name was buzzing around the school. I got cool with the dj there and we started throwing parties at the school; After that, I wanted to go to Tsu and be an entertaining recording management major there I wanted to learn the ends and out of the music industry; Matthew Knowles was my Professor at the time and I learned a lot before he moved on from the school in 2018. I have now drop My song four this that has been doing great and also, I have recently gotten all my camera equipment and editing material I would need to take my craft to another level. I just see nothing but greatest coming from me this next few years I want to put my city and world on notice not just on myself but my city my people my story I truly think I could change someone life with my music and things I been thru

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No, it’s hasn’t been on my own since I was 15. I have seen my share of obstacles in my life from living house to house to sleeping at parks to meeting random ppl at the parks and they let me stay with them just because they see potential in me; having no real family to go to because most of them are died or don’t want anything to do with me because I chose a side with my mom in the divorce. Having you close friends turn you away and look at me like dirt when I was down and never would give me a real chance to be my self I was always in a situation where I had to do whatever whoever I was living with wanted to do so I never had my own path until I found music.

We’d love to hear more about your work.
Well, I am an engineer producer and I almost do photography and cinematography but I am best at writing and recording music. I take pride in writing my own lyrics and pride and how my music is made. I never want to half but something I serve to have a message and something to say in my music so that generations later can learn and have a good time listen to my music. I feel like my sound and the way I bring a message and vibe to a song is different also; Just being knowing and myself sets me apart. Everyone in this life has there own view and own way of thought and the own way to express their way to look at the world so I feel everyone is different in their own way

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
My fans are the proudest thing I am most proud of my career because I have always felt like I wasn’t heard enough or when I speak sometimes and I am not heard but to the people that take their time out to listen to my music, I do this for them and the people like me that feel the same way.
