Today we’d like to introduce you to Donte Cherry.
Hi Donte, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I used to drive 18-wheeler trucks for FedEx Freight. I prayed because I always felt like it was something more for me to do. Shortly after, I got into an accident at work and had to make a decision to take a demotion or leave. I chose to leave after discussing it with my wife, who was 7 months pregnant at the time with our 3rd daughter and 4th child. About 3 months later, we went to see Black Panther and I knew videography was the path for me. So, I purchased my first professional camera with my 401k and it started from there. I practiced taking pictures and doing videos of my wife and kids. One day, my sister asked me to take a couple of shots of her, so she could have some maternity pictures and that’s how I got into the photography part of it.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Not at all! There were a lot of obstacles starting off. It was hard establishing a clientele base, getting resources like equipment and softwares, and finding balance between work and family time. It was also hard to stay encouraged at times because not everyone close to us understood the vision.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
We provide professional photography and videography services! We specialize in capturing those memorable moments in peoples’ lives while showing who they are and what they represent in one photograph and/or video! We’re known for our cinematic and unique look. We are very proud of the growth we have seen in such a short time as well as the continual wisdom we gain from this life of entrepreneurship. We can tell the same story a thousand times and make it captivating and customized for each client.
What were you like growing up?
Growing up, I always had a love for taking photos, listening to music, and being into things that are different and uncommon. I’m very laid back. I like to have fun and enjoy life.
