Meet Donte’ Perry of Hybrid Lifestyle LLC in Northwest Houston

Today we’d like to introduce you to Donte’ Perry.

Donte’, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Growing up in the inner city, I’d always been an active kid, playing sports through high school and college then continuing on to play professional arena football. But when my football career came to an end, I found myself at sort of a crossroads trying to figure out a way to maintain my active lifestyle when training for a sport was no longer a requirement. I also started to realize that my habits towards fitness (good and bad) were showing up in other areas in my life. This changed my entire approach and made me working out not solely be based on how I looked and more about who I was becoming in the process. An approach was familiar with as an athlete.

So Hybrid Lifestyle was born simply from me working on my self and realize that overcoming these struggles could help other people all across the world do the same, which eventually a fitness and lifestyle program designed to bring out the inner athlete in everyone, inside and outside the gym.

Has it been a smooth road?
The road hasn’t been smooth, mostly because everything I was doing was so new. I faced a lot of the same bumps and bruises that come with becoming an entrepreneur, particularly learning how to differentiate myself in what sometimes feels like a crowded (fitness) market. Then it became a matter of figuring out how to attract people/clients who could align with my mission, training style and outlook on how fitness can help them holistically without following the latest trend that does not align with your approach. Being authentic and learning from coaches has helped a lot.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Hybrid Lifestyle LLC story. Tell us more about the business.
Hybrid Lifestyle empowers personal growth through fitness and performance.
Our main mission is to take the mindset, principles, and habits that make you successful in fitness and apply them to everything that you do. We offer group training classes for people who enjoy training with other positive/energetic people. This is one of the most popular offerings as people come from all over Houston to train with us every single day.

We offer personal training for people whose schedule may not work with the group training times or just want a more specialized workout.

We also offer online training for people all over the world who enjoy going to the gym but may need a little bit more guidance, accountability, and motivation. Regardless of which one you choose, if you’re a go-getter and enjoy different styles of training, then we probably have something for you.

What sets us apart is that you never really know what you’re going to get in a Hybrid Lifestyle class. We learned that most people would not mind working out; they just are simply bored of doing the same thing over and over. We call it the “Hog Pin” because you will get sweaty, gritty, and challenged every single time you step in here with us, and they love it! From HIIT, strength training, non-traditional cardio like boxing, sports performance training is a combination of things to expect, all in one class! (Hence, one of the reasons why we call it “Hybrid.”)

The thing I am most proud of is that our Program went from a group training class to an actual community. One of the most common things new Hybrids say when they try out class is that the positive energy and supportive people is second to none. Fitness can be intimidating sometimes, especially when you’re trying something new for the first time. But when you are surrounded by people who really want to see you win, it becomes contagious.

How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
Fitness has been around since the beginning of time, but I think there will continue to be substantial growth in people being more active by the number of ways people are being introduced to movement. It’s not a one-size fit all approach anymore. The industry is attracting more and more people off the couch, and that’s always a plus to me. Fitness does not have to be a chore. Once you find something you actually enjoy doing, it’ll change your life forever.
