Today we’d like to introduce you to Dory Steen.
Dory, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I got started back in 2014 when we opened a little crawfish shack called Seafood on the Geaux on mason road. I was a cashier there while I was going to school ,I decided to stick with the company and have worked my way up. From hosting to serving to bar tending to managing, I am now a regional manager for the company.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It absolutely has not been a smooth road. The only way you learn and really get better is experience. Patience is a virtue and really understanding customer service and providing an awesome experience is what makes all the difference. The food can be fantastic but if you don’t really enjoy your job or love the people it’s just not the same.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the TaD’s Louisiana Cooking story. Tell us more about the business.
I am currently a regional manager over four locations with a fifth on the way and a food truck. We specialize in homemade Louisiana favorites such as etouffee gumbo steaks seafood and poboys. Our owner are from Eunice, Louisiana with recipes that go back over 50 years. What I am most proud of is what we have come from. We had a little shack with a couple people that has now turned into a company with over 200 dedicated team members. With out the help and support of staff friends and family you can’t get this job done.
Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I don’t know about luck but the right time and the right place has worked in our favor. I think it really comes down to how hard you want to work how bad you really want to be successful and make your dreams become a reality
