Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr. Bryan Clifton.
Dr. Clifton, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I am a board certified Anesthesiologist who completed medical school and residency at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Texas. I am also a native of Texas and grew up primarily in the Woodlands, Texas.
Kalypso Wellness Centers was formed in 2016 by me and my brother Dr. Cannon Clifton, CEO who is also a certified anesthesiologist; and two board-certified pain management physicians, Dr. Mark Moran, Chief Science Officer, and Dr. Scott Worrich, Chief Clinical Officer. We were all tired of seeing patients needlessly suffer and debilitated from their use of prescription narcotics. After countless months of research, we found a promising new solution with the use of ketamine infusions that could be offered to patients. We created a treatment called the RESET Ketamine Therapy™, which includes five distinct proprietary ketamine formulations: KalyCalm™, KalyCan™, KalyMax™, KalyPro™, and KalyZen™.
Upon further investigation, we discovered that when tailored to each patient’s unique disease state, these infusions can provide a substantial improvement in the quality of life for patients with anxiety, major depressive disorder, PTSD, bipolar disorder, fibromyalgia, neuropathic pain, inflammatory pain, chronic pain, and migraines/chronic headaches.
Our treatments have been so effective and beyond the state of the art that we have filed for a utility patent on our formulations and are officially patent pending now.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The single biggest struggle we have had is education. Not only do patients not know about this treatment or confuse it as a horse tranquilizer or party drug, very few physicians and other healthcare providers know about this therapy. This is why our main campaign has been about education. Another struggle has been that, while this is an FDA approved a drug, it is not approved for these indications, which means that it is not covered by any insurances. We have gone to great lengths to make this therapy affordable to most through our pricing, package deals, patient financing, discounts for first responders and veterans, as well as implement community outreach programs with steeply discounted pricing.
Kalypso Wellness Centers – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Kalypso Wellness Centers specialize in treating patients that suffer from chronic pain, migraines, depression, anxiety, diabetic peripheral neuropathy, inflammatory pain, fibromyalgia, bipolar disorder and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) using Kalypso’s Ketamine infusion therapy. Upon receiving our treatment, our patients feel less pain and feel calmer. Kalypso currently has five clinics; Three are Texas: North Houston, Corpus Christi, and San Antonio; one in Wilmington, North Carolina and an office in Long Island, New York. I manage the North Houston office which is in the Woodlands/Shenandoah area. I believe what sets us apart from other Ketamine treatment clinics is that we tailor each patient’s ketamine treatment around their unique disease state. Our proprietary infusion formulas provide patients dealing with anxiety, major depressive disorder, PTSD, bipolar disorder, fibromyalgia, neuropathic pain, inflammatory pain, chronic pain, and migraines/chronic headaches with a substantial improvement in their quality of life for. 90 to 95% of our patients experience relief with 54% fewer adverse reactions than the national average. This makes us the leading administrators of ketamine therapy in our field.
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
I think that our recent filing for a patent for our groundbreaking Kalypso Ketamine™ infusion process has been a moment that I am very proud of. Kalypso will be the first ketamine clinic to apply for a patent for our formulations and methodology. I feel that our formulations and treatment methods provide patients with a better experience with fewer side effects. We feel confident Kalypso Ketamine is beyond the state of the art and we want to ensure that there is a standard that people adhere to as it relates to administrating ketamine treatments and how they should properly use our formulations.
