Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr. Chris Araj.
Dr. Araj is Pearland’s only board-certified audiologist. He has years of experience helping patients hear their best so they can experience all the sounds of life. He saw a need to bring premier hearing care to the Pearland area since it was under served. Pearland is a growing city with many new residents. Dr. Araj grew up nearby in the Clear Lake area, so being a native Houstonian, he wanted to help his own community and opened Pearland Hearing Aids & Audiology, an independent, locally owned and operated audiology clinic in Pearland.
Has it been a smooth road?
Starting a practice from scratch is certainly not easy, but if you’re patient and willing, it’s going to come together just as you imagined it! I did not outsource many tasks as a way to learn every aspect of my business and also as a way to conserve money. For example, I designed my own website, logo, and business cards. I designed the office and picked out furniture. I researched different companies for phones, internet, electricity, credit card processing, electronic medical records software. I am self-financed which is something I’m proud of because unfortunately some people may go even deeper into debt by opening a business when they had existing student loans, credit card payments, or car notes. Some audiology offices also borrow money from manufacturers which makes them indebted to recommend only that manufacturers product or device as a way to repay their loan. Being an independent office means I can work with whomever I want and I can give unbiased recommendations on any technology or product since we have no ties or obligations to certain manufacturers.

We are Pearland’s premier destination for hearing testing and hearing aids. We provide compassionate individualized service to each patient since we have the luxury of taking the time to get to know each patient’s wants and needs. We do not overbook our schedule and make patients wait an hour just to be seen by the doctor for a few minutes. We understand that good patient care is good customer service as well. We want our patients to feel welcome and not rushed out the door. We work with every major brand of hearing aid which sets us apart from other offices who only stick to a limited number of hearing aid manufacturers. We also offer unbundling or itemization which allows a patient to pick and choose and see what exactly they are paying for- some offices bundle their professional services within the cost of the hearing aid into one lump sum and are not transparent to the patient. We also offer evening and weekend appointments for busy professionals which sets us apart. We offer low cost solutions and offer interest free financing. We are proud to be a local small business in the Pearland community and value helping local groups and sponsoring local fundraisers. We are part of the Pearland economy and want to support local!
Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
Pearland has a small big city feel. We are close enough to downtown Houston to enjoy the local theater, arts, restaurants, sporting events, but also have a suburban feel. With local parks, parades, great schools, and a growing economy Pearland is a great place to live. Construction can be a pain sometimes but it means we are growing and that’s a good thing!
