Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr. Doris Chao and Dr. Julie Yi.
Dr. Doris Chao and Dr. Julie Yi both worked at other private offices as associate optometrists before teaming up to open up a practice of their own. The love for wanting to give better eye care and creating an office environment where they can excel in their profession was what motivated them to come together. They chose to open an office in Katy because they fell in love with the community and the people. The idea of growing together as a family with this community is what excites them as they look forward to the future.
They desire for everyone who enters their office to feel as if they are an extended part of their own family. That is why they enjoy helping their patients pick out their own frames from various selections from the office and giving them their best professional advice. They don’t want to be known as just any ordinary optometrists. They hope that over the years, Eye Logic Eyecare will be a place where they can inspire, support, and help those who they come across on a daily basis.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Struggles we’ve been facing as a new small business is getting our name out to the community. We know that this community is very close knit so bringing awareness to our office has been challenging.
Please tell us about Eye Logic Eyecare.
We are two female optometrists who are glaucoma specialists. We can treat various eye diseases, such as glaucoma. We specialize in family practice where we see kids and adults. We also specialize in specialty contact lens fits for those who need them because it is medically necessary.
We don’t want to be known as just any ordinary optometrists. We want our patients to feel as if they are part of our family.
What I’m most proud of as a company is that we don’t follow a typical eye care chain method of treating patients. We are our own individual entity and we won’t compromise quality over quantity.
Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
Dr. Doris Chao: My favorite childhood memory was riding my bike around our small close-knit community and playing outside on the streets with all the neighborhood kids. There was a simplicity and innocence to that time in my life. I would love to be able to foster the same environment for my children.
Dr. Julie Yi: My favorite childhood memory was celebrating May Day (May 1st) at my elementary school each year. We had a prince and a princess selected from each class to participate during the maypole dance. It always felt special watching the celebration with handbells and singing with my friends. Since that time, I’ve never celebrated May Day, so when May 1st comes around it takes me back to the time when I was in elementary school.
