Hi Dr. Gazelle and Dr. Omid, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
River Oaks Dentistry began with a shared dream between a sibling duo, Dr. Gazelle Shabani and Dr. Omid Shabani, to create a dental practice where exceptional care meets a warm, modern experience.
After years of working in dentistry and honing our skills in different specialties — Dr. Gazelle in cosmetic dentistry and orthodontics, and Dr. Omid in implants and full mouth rehabilitation — we knew we wanted to bring our expertise together under one roof. Our vision was simple: a space where patients feel at ease, are treated like family (by family!) , and receive the highest level of care using the latest techniques and technology.
We chose River Oaks because its where we grew up and we wanted to give back to our vibrant community and provide them with high quality care. From day one, our goal has been to combine precision dentistry with artistry, tailoring every treatment to the patient’s unique needs. Today, River Oaks Dentistry is more than just a dental office — it’s the realization of our family’s commitment to helping people smile with confidence. After all, your smile is our signature!
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
We are a start up practice that opened in April so it has taken some time for people to know who we are! Slowly but surely, the community is beginning to find us and patients are reaching out to schedule appointments. We have definitely picked up quite a bit in the past month so things are looking really great! We are excited for what the future holds

We opened River Oaks Dentistry in April with a simple goal: to create a dental practice we’d want to go to ourselves — one where every detail matters, the atmosphere is warm, and patients feel truly heard.
We’re a sister and brother team, Dr. Gazelle and Dr. Omid Shabani, and dentistry has been a part of our lives for as long as we can remember. Our mom has been a dentist in Houston for over 20 years, so we grew up watching the way great dentistry can change lives.
Dr. Gazelle graduated from UTHealth School of Dentistry in Houston and focuses on cosmetic dentistry, orthodontics, and Botox treatments to help patients look and feel their best. Dr. Omid earned his DDS from UT Health San Antonio and brings experience in implants, oral surgery, and full-mouth reconstruction — restoring smiles that both look great and function well. Together, they combine their complementary expertise to provide comprehensive care tailored to your unique needs and goals.
Because we have different strengths, we can offer just about everything our patients might need in one place. Whether it’s a smile makeover, complex restorative work, or just keeping your teeth healthy, we work together to make sure every detail is right.
Our office is intentionally designed to feel polished yet welcoming, so patients never feel like they’re in a cold clinical setting. We take time to listen, explain options clearly, and create treatment plans that are as unique as the patients themselves. With the latest technology, minimally invasive techniques, and an eye for detail, we aim to deliver results that look beautiful, function flawlessly, and last for years.
At the end of the day, we want our patients to feel like family — because to us, they are.
Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
We were lucky enough that we had a mentor in our mother who has been a practicing dentist with 2 practices for over 20 years. Our lives have always been surrounded by dentistry!
However, we recommend joining associations such as the Greater Houston Dental Society that is great about providing resources and events to help with networking!
