Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr. Lisa Cortez.
Dr. Cortez, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I am a Psychotherapist in private practice. I have been in the Mental Health field for over 22 years; I am the Host of The Anxiety Dr. Podcast and the Founder of Té Sana Tea and Wellness. I am also the Founder of The Moody Mink Society, an NFT project on a mission to bring Mindfulness into classrooms across the U.S.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Luckily with my private practice, it’s been somewhat smooth. Now, with my tea company, that’s a different story, I did have to learn a lot, and I’m still learning. I do everything from packing tea, fulfilling orders, marketing, and doing the day in and day out of holding meetings. My latest endovenous has been quite challenging, with lots of learning and trial and error. Web3 is so new I think even the experts are learning. Working on significant projects with incredibly creative people has been exciting and rewarding. I am now working on other partnerships within web3. I’ve learned that nothing comes easy, but consistency and hard work will pay off.
As you know, we’re big fans of The Anxiety Dr. For our readers who might not be as familiar, what can you tell them about the brand?
My private practice is VIDA Therapy & Wellness, I specialize in Anxiety and trauma, and I help adults and teens learn to eliminate Anxiety by providing individual therapy. I have also founded Té Sana Tea and Wellness, a wellness tea company providing the highest quality, organic, all-natural teas that support your mind, body, and soul. Our products are ethically sourced and naturally processed. My mission is to make Mental Health a priority, helping it become a preventive measure. I don’t think we should wait until stress and Anxiety are causing problems in our life. By assisting people in learning preventive skills, we can help make lives better. We are doing that with Moody Mink Society helping to incorporate mindfulness into classrooms. We teach children to care for their physical health through PE classes, but we always exclude the mind. We’re changing that. We fund this project with sales from Té Sana and my NFT collection, Moody Mink Society. We will offer an affordable program for women to help eliminate Anxiety through VIDA therapy and Wellness. We are also excited to be working on bringing day retreats that include meditation, sound baths, and massage, specializing in self-love and empowerment. Details will be coming soon.
What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
Practice what you preach. I help people learn how to set boundaries and care for their minds, but sometimes when you want to help and have this vision to make your passion a reality, it can get tiring. When you’re doing what you love, you don’t see the time and energy you put in; it doesn’t feel like work. So definitely making sure I take care of my mind and schedule breaks between my busy schedule. I believe taking breaks is productive and will help you be more focused, creative, and driven.
