Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr. Tien Dang.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Dr. Dang. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Opening Studio Dental of River Park has always been my ambition from the very beginning. After being an associate doctor at many different offices, in many different cities (from NYC to Dallas to Houston), I felt that it was time for me to culminate all of the best ideas that I’ve learned along the way to give my patients the best dental experience possible. I wanted to give my patients an exceptional experience that is like no other! Being an entrepreneur not only allows me to provide for my patients, but it also allows the opportunity for me to take care of my family and to spend quality time with them. Having a work-life balance is very important to me and my family.
From a very young age, I knew that I wanted to pursue dentistry because of the positive impact that it can make in someone’s life. I’ve seen first hand how difficult it is for someone with tooth pain or even no teeth to eat and live a normal life. Having a healthy mouth impacts so many facets of a person’s life, and I wanted to be a provider of quality dental care that my patients can depend on. I am very lucky to have Tiffany La, my wife, as my office manager. She earned her Masters in Business Administration from the University of Houston, so she has a very strong foundation in business. A successful office is not just about the clinician, but also heavily relies on a solid business administration to ensure that the business runs smoothly.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The biggest challenges involved finding the perfect location, budgeting the entire project, and gathering all of the knowledge and the right people to develop this ground-up project. When we were selecting the location for Studio Dental of River Park, we wanted to select a place where there wasn’t a dentist nearby, and where there were new families moving in. Our location checked all of our boxes because the closest dentists were a few miles away, and a brand-new master plan community was under development just down the street from us. We know that families that were moving in from far away were going to need a new dentist, so we wanted to be right there for them to help them grow and become a part of this community, just like us!
As for the current residents that have been living in River Park for a while, now they don’t have to travel as far for a dentist! The second biggest obstacle was trying to stay within budget while obtaining all the very best technology and equipment to have the most modern and technologically advanced office. We believe that leveraging technology and the best in dental materials will give our patients the best in dental treatment. For us, we believe in providing the best for our patients!
With our bank loan and with the help of family members, we were able to save up enough to not only build a beautiful office but also to equip it with the best dental technology. The third biggest hurdle was to find the right people in their respective expertise to put all the tiny pieces of this project together. We spent many months going to conferences and seminars on how to build and run an efficient dental office. We also spoke with many different contractors and architects to make sure that our vision of Studio Dental was going to be executed perfectly. As far as the technology and equipment, we have been researching for years and following up on the latest developments to ensure that our money was spent on the right areas to improve patient care.
Studio Dental of River Park – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
We are a comprehensive dental office that offers all services relating to dentistry – a one-stop-shop! We only employ the latest dental materials and technologies in order to provide the best dental care possible for our patients. Our closest friends and family members also rely on us for their dental treatment – so you can be confident that what we provide for our most loved ones, we will also provide the same level of care for you too. We take care of all dental-related services – from routine cleanings and exams to cosmetic white fillings, to even orthodontics and implants – we cover it all! Our team has hundreds of hours of continuing education hours to make sure that we stay on the forefront of the latest dental literature. Our techniques, materials, and technology is of the highest quality because we want to ensure that what we do for you lasts for years to come. We strongly believe in providing the best for our patients because that equates to a better life – and that’s what we’re all about – improving the lives of whom we touch.
Studio Dental of River Park differentiates itself from other dental offices in the way that we envision how a dental experience should be. We know that visiting the dentist isn’t everyone’s favorite occasion, which is why we designed the office from the ground-up to be a relaxing and comforting atmosphere. Every element in the office – from the floorplan to the color scheme, to the materials, were all carefully chosen and selected to bring calmness and tranquility to our patients. “Patient experience” is our mission, and we discuss this topic every morning during our team huddles. From the lavender-scented office to the high ceilings, to even the barn doors that we have for privacy, every little element in the office is important to us because we want our patients to have the best experience possible since going to the dentist can be tough. We have created an experience that allows our patients to forget or at least feel more confident at the dental office. We have lavender scented neck warmers to help them stay calm, as well as blankets and noise-canceling headphones to help reduce anxiety. Our ceiling-mounted TVs allows our patients to be entertained while they receive treatment. All of these elements allow our patients to relax, enabling us to focus on providing the best dental care possible. Our team is highly trained in customer service, and to always put patient experience first.
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
We plan on being the cornerstone of dental care in this community. Our goal is to be here for the long run for our patients and to become a household name when it comes to quality dental care. Outside the office, we have and will continue to give back to this great community that has supported us and has welcomed us with open arms. Our proudest moment thus far is with our Project Smile, which is our way of giving back to the community through dentistry. Project Smile will change someone’s life by giving them their smile back!
