Today we’d like to introduce you to Drew Wexelberg.
Drew, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I got started in the tattoo industry in 1996. I hopped around to a few shops before finding my home at Shaw’s Tattoo for several years, then decided the open my own business in Katy. I’ve been in Katy now for a little over 12 years.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I would definitely say it has NOT been a smooth road. I dealt with personal issues that forced me to shut down my original Katy location then the second location experienced a total loss fire so I had to relocate once again. I’ve dealt with cancer and blood clots that had me in the hospital off and on for almost all of 2016, But now I’m in my 3rd location in Katy a little over 3 years and look to be here for many more.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Firebird Tattoo Studio – what should we know?
I honestly like to tattoo everything. I do not think that I specifically have a style because I’m really open to doing anything. I don’t want to be put in a certain category of tattooing because I want clients to be comfortable coming to me with any and all ideas or designs they may have. I love black and grey as well as color. I’m just happy I get to do what I love on a daily basis.
Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
Your work and your word set you apart and as long as people can rely on me and my work I think I will continue to have success in this industry.

I’m honored to have tattoos from Drew and proud to say I have had the pleasure of tattooing next to him over the years. He is a man of few words but his tattoos Speek in volumes.He will not brag about the trophies he has won at tattoo conventions,or about numbers of likes he gets on social media,but I will for him.If your in the Houston area/Katy and want simply the best tattoo experience look no further than Drew and the crew he has assembled at Firebird you will not “regert” lol regret it.
