I became an entrepreneur before I truly understood what an entrepreneur was. At 21, with two children suffering from postpartum, no support, no income, confused about life and unsure about what direction my life was going in. I started my first business Boss Status Hair, lol I had no clue about business or what I was doing but guess what I learned along the way. I only started this business to make money to have income for my children. It was hard because I didn’t really have help with my children nor could I afford daycare. So hair was literally my life. I sold hair, wigs and did sewins, etc. It was fun because it was like an escape from my reality. DEPRESSION, that was my reality, I felt like the walking dead. I had no clue how to take control over my life and get to the success or just happiness I knew I deserved. So I finally decided to just give up! I gave up on all external things! I realized that what I was searching for I had to look within. I gave up my hair business, my weave, makeup, clothes, shoes, jewelry, everything that I felt was taking up space for what I truly wanted. Throughout this journey of internal peace, love and happiness, I found myself trying to figure out what was next for me? What am I here to do? What is my purpose of life?
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
I faced sooo many obstacles and challenges. Firstly battling with depression was one of the biggest challenges! I remember being so depressed that I thought about suicide nearly everyday. I knew I couldn’t do that though because I had two children and I couldn’t leave them here trying to figure out life like I was. So I then turned to drinking, smoking, and just all unconscious negative things. I cried just about everyday asking God for answers, healing, peace, happiness, love, comfort, etc. One day I was scrolling on YouTube and found a video on affirmations, I didn’t have a clue what it was or how I came across it but that was my key to peace, happiness and understanding. I began to listen to affirmations everyday night and in the morning. I actually came up with a mindset routine to help me overcome my depression. I then later learned that food played a big part in how you are feeling as well.
This journey has been FAR from easy! Not having help, support, two children, no child support, no income, lost, depressed, confused, suicidal. However, I’m just grateful and thankful that I’ve overcome it all and beyond blessed to share my story.

I now have multiple amazing businesses. Naturally Dupreea Is the Umbrella of all my great creations! I am a creator and I was made to create things to help others. I went to school for holistic nutrition and wellness to help others heal naturally. I then started my holistic wellness business Total life SMB (Sprit.Mind.Body) Which helps people understand balance because it’s definitely the key to a healthy fulfilled life. I also have a brand called Growth And Goals, which helps other entrepreneurs with the tools they need to start or build their own business. After years of family and close friends telling me to start my own hair care company, I launched a lip care company MelantedLips. Which is for all of your lip care needs, lip gloss, lip balm, lip scrubs, lip oils, etc., But shortly after that, I launched my biggest baby Melanated Curls. Curly Girls Deserves Curly Haircare. However, MelanatedCurls isn’t just for curly hair but its catered to curly hair because all of Melanated curls products are moisture based.
