Today we’d like to introduce you to Eddie Jackson Jr..
Hi Eddie, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I’ve always been into arts since I was a kid. Seeing my first-grade teacher Mrs. Morgan drawing on the board really woke that Picasso up inside of me. Throughout my childhood, I would draw and be inspired by things and people I’ve seen in television or things around me.
Fast forward to 2018, at the age of 21, I definitely felt like it was time for me to really show my potential as an artist. After starting a YouTube channel and painting on clothing, from that moment till now, I’ve had some kind of success with it.
This past year I wasn’t planning on doing anything really, but something made me get out of the funk and back into the swing of things. Since January of this year (2022) I can currently say, I’ve sold artwork every single month thus far. And I’m grateful for that. If I didn’t have pushed myself in December of last year, I honestly do not know how things would have gone this year for me with my work. Again, I’m grateful.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Art can go both ways, you can make it a full time job or you can be in control of it. I say finding the time to sit and actually make time and plan out content can be a struggle, especially if you really don’t have the time.
Another struggle is, not everyone will understand your vision and that’s fine.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m a painter and a graphic designer, I specialize in both. I’ve been drawing since I was around six or seven. I started painting with acrylic paint at the end of 2018. Ever since that year, I’ve been consistently working on new projects monthly. I normally upload tutorials on my socials and I have a separate account for my art on Instagram @artboyshop, make sure you go and follow.
I’m most proud of myself, for putting myself out there and taking risks no matter what, accepting that not everyone will like what I create. Some will be inspired and some won’t, it’s just life. I’m doing it because it’s something I love to do, and I normally don’t care about how it’s received. I love every piece so that’s all that matters, it makes me happy.
Doing art because it’s my purpose and not being in for fame or money, is what sets me apart from everyone. Well, not everybody, but for the ones who are in for fame and trying to come up overnight.
Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
Something surprising that most people don’t know about me is that I’m kind of a nerd. Like I’m into old-school power rangers (yes I still watch it), I also watch wrestling. I can cut hair, and I do not know how to cook to save my life. Oh, lastly. I just have to say this, I’m one of the biggest Scooby-Doo fans in the world. I love everything Scooby, and forever will.
I’m also a huge horror movie fan. My favorite horror movie series are the Halloween and Scream series. The month of October is my favorite month.
One last thing you might not know about me is, I’m addicted to R&B music and late 70s and 80s music (before it was a trend this year).
