Today we’d like to introduce you to Eddy Roberts.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Eddy. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
In my 15 plus years as a graphic designer, I’ve always enjoyed working with photos, adjusting and editing them to make them the very best they can be. It’s been an easy, natural transition to full-on photo restoration, and one that I find very gratifying. The process of the work is almost meditative. I enjoy the attention to detail and satisfaction of taking a damaged image and making it new again. And when my clients are super happy, that makes it even better.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Life is not without its struggles and I’ve had my share, but starting up Pic-Fix was fairly straight-forward and very smooth. I already had the skills I needed and the equipment so that part was easy. The challenge, of course, is just getting your name out there and finding new projects to keep everything running from a financial perspective. We’ve been fortunate to have a nice steady stream of work come our way.
Pic-Fix Photo Restoration – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Pic-Fix Photo Restoration repairs damaged, faded photographs in order to bring them back to life. We offer to scan services to digitize old images. We digitally clean the image, provide proper contrast, color correction, and resizing as needed. While these are the basic services, we can do a whole lot more. We’ve created entirely new custom backgrounds, transforming a simple interior into an outdoor flower garden.
We’ve removed objects from photos, in one instance taking out people that were overlapping the foreground figure and putting the focus back on the foreground ballerina. It’s pretty amazing what can be accomplished with some imagination, skill and commitment of time. There’s a great deal of pride in what we do and we make sure the restorations are performed with great care and attention to detail.
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
Honestly, I’m proud anytime my clients are wowed by our work. That never gets old.
