Meet Eli Prasit

Today we’d like to introduce you to Eli Prasit.

So, before we jump into specific questions, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
During junior year of high school, I was gifted my first digital camera. I realized that photography was way more than just clicking a button. I could bring alive the ideas of others, as well as my own. Quickly I learned that I could turn my passion into a profiting business.

I was a year and a half into college when I found myself contemplating whether or not it was for me. At this point in time, I was not only landing small videography gigs such as recording music videos, clothing brand promotional videos, and recording nightlife but most importantly, I was building relationships with everyone I came across. This led to my decision to drop out of college to pursue creating content full-time.

By deciding to drop out of college, I figured there was nothing else holding me back from building my personal brand and expanding my resources. I was 20 years old when I made the decision to take a leap of faith and move to Los Angeles, California with my sister.

I am now a full-time graphic designer and videographer creating content for a living. Though I still have yet to find who I truly am as a person and what I want my legacy to be, I just hope that my story will inspire even just one kid out there. This goes to show that even when the universe seems to be against you or the goals that you set in life seem to be impossible to reach, you should always be willing to bet on yourself.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
As much as I want to say it’s been a smooth road throughout my journey, I’d be lying if I said didn’t encounter any hard times both physically and mentally. At the age of 19, I was balancing my time between working as a pool boy, going to college, taking care of my brother, and using whatever time I had left to create videos. I knew something had to go so I decided to dropout and get a job at a warehouse.

Working in 100 degrees Texas weather wasn’t the best, but I was determined on reaching the goals that aligned with my vision. Eventually, I saved enough money to buy better camera equipment. I knew that if I kept working towards something I was passionate about, it would eventually lead to bigger things.

Everyone knows the popular saying, “A picture tells a thousand words,” but for me I’ve always strived for letting others see a glimpse of how I felt, too.

We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
When it comes to putting a title on who I am and what I do, I usually tell people that I am a creative. Whether I spend my time recording videos, taking pictures, or even being the person to pose for a picture, I find satisfaction in knowing that I am capable of getting my hands on anything.

I am mostly known for how I edit videos and photographs when it comes to post-production. As far as editing goes, I specialize in the most common of adobe software such as Photoshop, After Effects, Adobe Premiere Pro, and Adobe Illustrator. What surprises me to this day is the fact that I am self-taught and that I was able to prove to myself that I could be just as good as someone who has a degree in this field.

I believe that remaining humble and still having the urge to learn as much as I can to be better has been what sets me apart from others. I would not be in the position that I’m in if it weren’t for people willing to take a chance on me to bring their ideas to life. It has never been about the money that I could make being a creative, but instead it’s having the chance to build relationships, make memories, and the freedom to create is what keeps me going.

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
As a creative, I find myself reminiscing about the experiences I had with a project rather than thinking about the project itself. For example, I had the opportunity to put together a “Day in the Life” vlog for Victor Oladipo, a player for the NBA’s Indiana Pacers.

I spent nearly two days with him, learning who he is as a person and now I’ve got footage I can look back on. I’ve also had the pleasure of creating content for Ciroc, Capitol Records, and even had the pleasure of being flown to Miami and Las Vegas to capture content.
