Today we’d like to introduce you to Elida Garza.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I’m a yoga instructor, located in Houston TX. I teach a variety of yoga classes that include Hatha, Raja, Vinyasa and guided meditation. I first discovered yoga in 2016 after a back injury along with other health issues. I moved on to deepen my practice and attended The Yoga Institute in Houston TX. I received my 200 hr registered yoga license. I am currently enrolled to complete my 500 hours with a specialty in Acrobatic yoga.
Yoga has been a part of my life these past few years, and my practice has helped me grow stronger, more flexible and fearless, both on and off the mat. Yoga inspires me to live each moment more mindfully. My goal is to encourage others and help guide them by nurturing body, mind, and soul with yoga along with healing and meditation.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I would love to say it has been a smooth road and although owning my own yoga business brings me a lot of joy I must say it hasn’t been all that smooth. Some struggles that I have faced as a yoga instructor and business owner is that I wear many hats.
Ellie Yogini is a small yoga business, so when I’m not teaching a class, I am marketing my business and trying to attract new students. Another, the issue I have faced is that I travel to my clients to teach private classes.
Texas is known for their bi-polar weather, so I am constantly having to reschedule with my clients to accommodate with the weather. Therefore, I am always looking for other creative outlets to resolve the issue.
We’d love to hear more about what you do.
I’m a yoga instructor, located in Houston TX. I teach a variety of yoga classes that include Hatha, Raja, Vinyasa and guided meditation. The teaching style of Hatha and Raja yoga is eclectic and non-dogmatic and is compatible to all styles of yoga regardless of the lineage, Vinyasa, Lyengar and other 50 plus styles being taught.
I am most known for my one on one yoga practices that are beginner friendly but add a challenge to any a student no matter how experienced they may be in their practice. I have experience working with children and students with injuries.
I include breathing practices, core hatha postures and meditation techniques that are included in my six weeks course with a beginner through the advanced curriculum.
Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
The best quality or characteristic to have is the ability to connect with others. Whether, its attracting new students, retaining old students or even using it as a tool to connect with other businesses.
No matter the size of the yoga class, a yoga instructor and business owner I want to make everyone feel comfortable and have an impact on each person so that the person feels like they belong.

Such an amazing article. I think we need to support smaller business more often.
