Meet Eliza Moreno

Today we’d like to introduce you to Eliza Moreno.

Every artist has a unique story. Can you briefly walk us through yours?
Growing up I was always fascinated by art. I fell in love with the works of Andy Warhol, Monet, Diego Rivera, Frida Khalo & Jean-Michel Basquiat to name a few. What captured my attention was how these artists used their paintings to tell stories, express their feelings and evoke some type of emotion form the audience.

In one of my early art classes they taught us about the color theory and how we could use that to create new colors or cancel out colors. That sparked my interest and wondered if I could apply the same theory to cover my dark circles, after that my love for makeup evolved. I fell in love with makeup because I used that to express how I felt, whether it was colorful eyeshadow, bold lipstick, glitter etc.

I went on to pursue a BBA in Marketing and put my career as a makeup artist on the back burner. As time went on a piece of myself wasn’t being satisfied; the artist in me needed to create. With the encouragement of my family and friends I went ahead and pursued freelancing as a makeup artist.

Touch of Artistry was born in late 2016. Since then I have met many people and have been published three times! I am currently still working on expanding my brand all while teaching women to feel empowered and beautiful in their own skin. To see makeup as an “accessory” and not a mask to hide behind.

Please tell us about your art.
I am a diverse artist. I can be doing makeup for a maternity shoot, for a bride, for a quinceanera, photoshoot or even special FX makeup. I want people to recognize the diversity I offer and recognize the value in that. I feel like it’s important for an artist to know a little bit of everything because you never know what opportunities can come your way.

What do you think is the biggest challenge facing artists today?
The biggest challenge facing artists today, in my opinion, is staying true to yourself in a world where social media is such huge platform that showcases other artists work. Don’t get me wrong I think social media is such a great tool that every artist should be utilizing but I do think that sometimes we get lost in comparing our work to others, or trying to be just like some of our idols/influencers. What I like to tell a lot of other artist is to stay focused on your work, create what comes from the heart and what will be ours is mean to be ours. The world is so big and there are multiple opportunities available.

How or where can people see your work? How can people support your work?
You can view my work on any of my social media platforms or my website, www.touchofartistrymua.com. The biggest way anyone can support my work is to share and engage with me through any of my social media platforms. I LOVE engaging with people and getting to know them!
