Elizabeth, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I am a pet parent and occasionally like to take trips. Eight years ago, I found myself in an area where family and friends could no longer help me with caring for my dogs and home when we decided to go on a getaway. Having 2 dogs that do not do well with other dogs, even after years of socialization methods, I decided to find someone that could provide this kind of care and at a quality experience that would put my mind at ease while on our trips! You could say it was, ‘from necessity came invention’. I slowly and carefully screened and interviewed to start my team building of wonderful caregivers. I enlisted tools to stay organized and accountable for our in-home pet care. Continuing education on all types of pets keeps us up to speed on many different service needs and special care from puppies/kittens to senior pets. Flash forward to today, Barking Life Pet Concierge is a professional pet care experience to be had by all pet owners!
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
The biggest and most time-consuming challenge for me is finding those “gems”! (the caretakers with the biggest hearts for animals that also go hand in hand with excellent communication skills and education).
I will always continue to improve my screening and interview process to find the very best to add to our team! After all, our pet families are worth it!
Barking Life Pet Concierge – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Barking Life Pet Concierge is a team of professional pet care providers caring for pets in their own homes. We specialize in just that, making sure your pet is comfortable and provided for while you are away. Your home is kept secure. Your mail packages are brought inside while being away to thwart off theft. Lights are turned on/off and trash bins are out/in to show someone is present in the home. Routines are especially important to pets and our keeping to their routine/schedules helps for them to relax in their own environment. What sets us apart from other services is our open communication and reports of our visits made to your home. For each visit made to your home we send a picture and a report update on how everything is going. Our clients really appreciate our attention to detail and level of care provided to their furry family members!
What is “success” or “successful” for you?
I define success in my pet care business as quality and not quantity. Each relationship built for us is so important that we stay true to our roots with great customer service for each client and for them to feel their importance to us as well. With each special relationship created comes success.
Pricing:
- 30 minute home care visit or dog walk service: $22.00 (one pet)
- 1 hour home care visit or dog walk service: $32.00 (one pet)
- Additional pet: $4.00 per dog, $2.00 per cat
- Administered medication (added to visit cost): $5.00 for pill, $10.00 for injection
- Pet Taxi: $25.00 (one way up to 10 miles) Trip to and from Doggie Daycare, Pet Grooming or Vet appointment
