Today we’d like to introduce you to Elizabeth Martinez.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Elizabeth. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I decided to study Accounting to open my own company. Then, after trying several different businesses, I gave up and decided to work as an Accountant for several years. One day, I decided to hire a cleaning company to clean my house. I was a busy mom with two little kids a job and a lot of activities with the kids. Looking for a cleaning company gave me the idea to open my own cleaning company so I could help busy families by taking care of their cleaning needs. I started educating myself in this field so I can provide the best service. It began with cleaning one home with one crew which including myself. Thankfully with referrals and good service we know have many homes with our schedules full with regular customers that we have had for years and continue to get more customers every week. Now our company employs more than 40 full-time employees which I feel very proud of helping them by providing them with a job so, they can support their families.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
All businesses have struggles. Starting a business from zero is very tough. We are very selective with the people we hire, that’s also another challenge. Finding the ideal employees that represent our company.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Big City Maids – what should we know?
I have a residential cleaning company. We do all types of residential cleaning like move in-move out cleanings after construction cleaning, carpet cleaning, standard cleaning, and deep cleaning. We personalize every cleaning according to what the customer needs or wants. We are also proud members of Cleaning For a Reason a non-profit organization that provides free cleaning for women with cancer.
Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
My mother and husband had been very supportive and helped out in many different ways. The company would not be where it is at today without them.
