Today we’d like to introduce you to Elodie Espinoza.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I originally fell into hair as a backup plan. I had spent 2 years after graduating high school going to festivals and raves; I was unsure of what I wanted to do with my life.
I fell in love with the industry the first day at Paul Mitchell the school.
After graduating Cosmetology school, I worked at an amazing color focused salon “Black sheep parlor”, there I met my current boss and the owner of Studio Eclipse Chelsea.
I took techniques and styles from every mentor, I’ve had and slowly began creating my own and playing with my own style.
After being discovered on a repost by “Guy Tang My Identify” I was Contacted by Matrix to be part of their new SoColorCult team.
All of these experiences have allowed me to grow more than I ever imagine and realize that this is the career I was meant to do.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Too many to name. I never had any experience with hair so even curling hair was new to me. That was the first.
From lack of motivation to uncertainty, I think most obstacles where personal.
I’ve been blessed enough to have learned from many amazing stylists so the road and opportunities where always there for me I just had to push myself to do them.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Studio Eclipse – what should we know?
I’m a haircolorist and hair stylist.
I specialize in Foilayage, Balayage, highlights, and fantasy hair.
Lately, I’ve been more known for fantasy colors since I’m a Content Creator for Matrix’s SoColorCult line.
I’m very proud to be a part of the matrix team.
I like to pride myself in the relationship I have with my clients. Many have become friends and I always like to be available to them if needed.
Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
So many people have helped me so much and I wish I could name every single person but I can name the most influential ones.
At my first salon Black sheep parlor, it was Shay, Glo and All the stylists there. It was such an amazing inspirational salon to have worked for straight out of cosmetology school. They were the most supportive team and I always felt at home. They were huge supporters of my transition which meant so much.
My current boss, Chelsea I learned a lot from her and was able to master blending which was something I was so scared in school. She pushed me to do hair when I was so scared and I think that’s what made me the strongest stylist I am today. Working alongside her made me stronger more confident and knowledgeable in hair which is what has helped me achieve so much now.
