Today we’d like to introduce you to Emily Jin.
Emily, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I started snapping and recording all the different foods or drinks I got when I went out to eat and decided I should start a food blog/food Instagram. I don’t necessarily think I’ve “blown” up, but I really enjoy the different connections I’ve made through my account.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No, it’s not really easy to build a large following for my account because I’m so busy with school. I currently study English at the University of Texas at Austin and don’t really have time to go out and try new foods in Austin. Honestly, I’m sure my account hasn’t really taken off due to my intense focus on my studies.
We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
For my foodstagram, I specialize in boba pictures. I drink A LOT of milk tea and I love trying new tea shops. I’d like to think I’m known for tea pictures and I’m most proud of them as well. I don’t think much sets me apart from other foodstagrams, but I do like to think I have high-quality photos.
Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
I think honesty is important. I don’t really recommend or post food from places I don’t enjoy. I think it’s important to be honest with your audience, and not posting a restaurant or shop simply because of their popularity or gaining a sponsorship.
