Today we’d like to introduce you to Emily Liang.
Emily, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I started 1314 STUDIO in the waterfront New Jersey and New York City area. Whether it’s a use of your favorite items, handmade props, plain white wall, a passing biker, or yellow taxi cab, we like to incorporate surrounding elements and to use creative perspective in capturing engaging, modern, and timeless images for all our clients. That is why we named our studio “1314” or ” 一生一世 ” meaning “timeless” in Chinese. Our photographer and videographer team grew bigger throughout the years and we are currently expanding in the Houston and Hawaii area.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
There are so much going on behind the scene than us showing up to take the photos, including marketing, customer service, accounting, insurance, keeping up with technology, and many other important items to keep the business running. To figure out and to do those things well require hard, hard, hard work! We are constantly learning to make our business better. Additionally, we are expanding so going into any new area is pretty much starting all over again!
1314 STUDIO – what should we know? What do you do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
We are currently operating in NJ/NYC area, Houston and Hawaii. In the Houston area, we specialize in weddings and engagements. We also have another brand Yuki Photo Studio (www.yukiphotostudio.com), which specializes in newborn and family photography. We have photographed many events and families with various cultural backgrounds, so we welcome all types of photoshoots and people from all walks of life.
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
Able to grow our team bigger and expand to Houston and Hawaii. Additionally, we create a new brand in Houston called Yuki Photo Studio (www.yukiphotostudio.com). Yuki focus on studio and lifestyle newborn and family photography.
