Today we’d like to introduce you to Erica D Allen.
Erica, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I dressed my son, who was seven months at the time, in a costume every day in the month of October 2019.
I couldn’t decide on what costume I wanted to dress my baby boy Cairo in for his very first Halloween, so I came up with the idea to dress him up each day in October. I wanted his costumes to be unique to celebrate his very first Halloween.
When I shared the photos of Cairo on social media – It was only just a fun memorable moment for family and friends, then a friend took the photos and posted them on her Facebook page which became a hit and the photos went viral. When the post hit 64,000 shares on Facebook, Good Morning America and the Insider picked up the story and the shares went up to 114,000 with two million video views and my baby boy Cairo stole the hearts of social media and America.
Our story was so interesting that I decided to turn it into a children’s Book; releasing, Cairo’s First Halloween: Mommy’s Big Idea on September 1, 2020.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It has been a fairly smooth road with a couple of obstacles with owning my own publishing company and releasing my first children’s book, Cairo’s First Halloween: Mommy’s Big Idea. I went into this project with a positive mind and a lot of research before starting. Every obstacle I ran across I saw as a learning experience that will help me in business and with my future book releases.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Success can be defined differently for different individuals. I define my success as accomplishing my goals and exceeding them. For instance; I’ve always wanted to be a published children’s book author; I met my goal and started my own publishing company. With starting my own company, I exceeding my goal and I reached a new level of success.
